Ink fountain Function and design Ink fountain to series 746 1
2
4
3
7K09_72
The function of the ink fountain is to hold the ink that is to be processed as well as printing coating and printing glues. The metering of the required ink quantity takes place via the CentralConsole. Several electronic control elements, the mentioned ink slides, provide the desired ink volume in the different zones. The ink fountain roller transports the set inking profile via the ink ductor roller to the ink rollers. The ink fountain position in relation to the ink fountain roller is maintained via cam followers on A- and B-side. All rollers must bear the weight evenly. The ink metering accuracy depends on the true running of the ink fountain roller. The rotating ink fountain roller deviation in relation to the ink slide tip may not exceed max. 0.005 mm.

Differences by addressing printing unit 1: The front guide option in the printing unit 1 must be co-addressed at the same time as the ink slides. And vice versa, if the front guides are to addressed the ink slides must be done as well. from Firmware 5.XX
The address range of the front guides starts above the ink slides at address 35. 34 ink slides = address 1-34 9 front guides = address 35-43 Caution: The assignment of the addresses is carried out opposite to the ink slides. Front guide beginning with the lowest number on the BSide (35) and increasing toward the A-Side up to 43.
from Firmware 6.xx and Series 751
Addressing of the ink slides and front guides separate is possible as of firmware version 6.XX and the new positioning drive distribution rack from series 751. Before entering into menu 9 the Unit 1 must be selected for the ink slides and Unit2 for the front guides.

The movement of the ink ductor roller shaft is controlled by the ink ductor roller stripe gears. By the spring assembly (3/5) the ink ductor roller is hold in middle position if the ink ductor roller moves from the ink fountain roller to ink vibrator roller and vice versa. There is transfer from one setting screw to the other therewith by diameter alternation there is no effect at the ductor strip. As a secondary effect damping prevents shock impact between the ink fountain roller and ink ductor roller as well as between the ink ductor roller and ink vibrator roller.

Ink fountain roller The ink fountain ductor (D61) is made of specially hardened steel and rests on needlebearings.
D 61 H 71
It is driven by an AC motor with adjustable reverse rotation (time and frequency).
Ü 94
The speed of the AC motor (ductor roller stripe width) can be preselected from the central control console (0.5-60 r.p.m.). The register angle of the ink ductor roller to the ink fountain roller changes automatically in order to achieve a constant ductor roller stripe width at different machine speeds.
R514 Ü 91 R513
Ü 93
R512
Ü 92
This takes place via the ink ductor roller gears coupled with a positioning motor. The maximum ink fountain roller speed provides an ink ductor roller stripe of 86-100 mm.
Z 82
R511 Z 83
The accuracy of ink dosage depends on concentricity of the ink fountain roller. Max. deviation ink fountain is in working position: 0,005mm.

QuickChange TM – Colour Ink flow switch-over (1) Triple - Flow universal inking unit with optionally front heavy, symmetrical or normal ink volume distribution
122
-
Normal ink distribution for the majority of standard applications.
-
Front heavy ink distribution (rear separation position opened) for advantages with solid sujets. This ink distribution version often allows for a faster and stable balance of ink and damping medium.
-
The symmetrical ink volume distribution (front separation position open) prevents the transport of – for UV or metallic pigment inks – a too high a damping agent amount into the ink roller system.

QuickChange TM – Colour Ink flow switch-over (2) Triple - Flow Universal inking unit, latest Start-Stop sequence technology using ink flow switch When production is interrupted, the ink flow of ink rollers Ü91 and Ü92 is separated at contact points (1) and (2). After resuming production, inking unit separation is activated as before during the 1st sheet. The inking unit is switched to run asymmetrically front heavy between the 2-10th sheet, i.e. the contact point (2) is closed and the ink roller Ü92 is engaged. The inking unit separation is deactivated from the 11th sheet on and the contact point (1) is closed. Ink roller Ü91 is engaged.

QuickChange TM – Colour (3) More exact ink slide presetting when starting a new job Changes in software lead to the ink feed of scale inks of a subsequent printing job being achieved even earlier. This new software considers, among other features, the current wear status of the ink slides and automatically makes necessary corrections. However, also empirical values acquired in the course of the machine life time and leading to obtaining exact ink density nominal values as fast as possible are also considered in this self-teaching software program. -
A saving of circa one regulation step of ColorPilot
-
A make-ready time saving of up to two minutes per procedure.
-
Depending on the printed motif, a saving of up to 100 waste sheets.

For in depth cleaning of the ink and damping rollers a special liquid (alkaline) roller cleaning agent is used instead of cleaning paste. For the special cleaning agent there is a separate supply system consisting of a 33l tank, supply lines including solenoids and an additional spraying pipe for the automatic supply of the cleaning agent. The supply system can be optionally fitted with three spraying pipes (water, conventional washing agent, special cleaning agent) or with four spraying pipes (water, conventional washing agent, UV-washing agent and special cleaning agent).
5
7K09_120
Alternating operation / special cleaning agent Three independent washing agent circuits for water, conventional washing agent and UVwashing agent save time needed for the timeconsuming change of the washing agent when changing from conventional printing inks to UV inks. With a fourth supply system it is possible to apply special concentrated washing agents which, for example, considerably reduce the time needed when changing from dark to light colours.

Ever more frequently are middle size presses being assembled from an increasing number of printing units, often as a consequence of the long perfecting machines and new versions of inline finishing machines. In parallel to this development, our clients increasingly demanded disengageable inking units so as to: - Eliminate unnecessary wear of the ink rollers on printing units that were not being used. -
