Pyramid of Giza

The three pyramids of Giza were built in Ancient Egypt for approximately 4500 years ago. They served as tombs for the pharaohs Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure.

Located in the city of Giza, close to Cairo (capital of Egypt).

The largest of the pyramids is the Pharaoh Cheops with 147 meters high. It is known as the "Great Pyramid”. It was built with limestone blocks.

PURPOSE: because the Pharaoh was viewed as a god, he lived in the spirit world with the gods. Upon death, he had to be able to return to his body on earth. 6
It is believed that over 100,000 men, mostly slaves, were used for the construction of the pyramid of Giza. It took approximately 30 years to complete it.
