Briefly discuss the concept “grade inflation”. The tendency for educators to give higher grades in the present day than in the past for the alike level of performance. Grading is infleuenced by “plolitics”. Higher mark is given than what the student deserves.

What is an aptitude test battery? Aptitude: Student’s potential for achievement and actual achievement are measured in the form of IQ test or cognitive tests. Aptitude test battery: A collection of tests to measure students’ aptitudes.

Briefly discuss the types of educational decisions every classroom teacher must make. a) Instructional Decisions: Decisions revolving around the instructional plan of the teacher. The adjustments that can be made around the instructional plan when required. b) Grading Decisions: Grades which are allocated according to the knowledge level of a student. Appropriate tests help teachers to make the grading decisions. c) Diagnostic Decisions: Diagnostic decisions are made about students’ strengths and weaknesses and the reasons for them based on teacher-made assessments and tests.

Briefly discuss the type of data that is needed for diagnostic decisions. Standardized test data: Decisions made by teachers or specialists based on standardized test results, e.g. a student’s cumulative work record.
