If we want to move learners into knowledge and understanding that is neither shallow or limited , we need to ensure that information is not the end point of activities. We need to move beyond activities that require pupils to merely gather and present information.

The purpose of learning is to move students away from being absorbers of information to being processors, synthesisers, creators and users of information Sergiovanni 1995
