Introduction: To maintain and run smoothly all the activities, there are no. of employees working in City School. They are categorized in four (4) major categories by function. These are: 1.

General Staff (BPS-5 to BPS-15)

Teaching Staff

Class-IV Staff

It is impossible to maintain manual record of all the employees, their scales, bank account information, salary management and other related information, so it was decided by the Principal to have a comprehensive database of Employees information and their salary management. It was also decided to use Open Source software & tools for this purpose.

Function of the Project The function of this project is to have a comprehensive database of all employees, working in City School. The Basic function of this project is to hold Employees Records and manage their salaries & Payroll system. We will have their complete information like Employee Name, Father Name, Designation, Hire Date, End Date, Basic Pay Scale, Current BPS, Branch, Department and other related info. We will use different type of entry forms for this purpose like Employee Entry Form, Default Allowances, Default Deductions, Branch Entries and Department Entries etc. It will also have comprehensive reports like Employee’s Pay Slips, Department wise Pay Slips, Department Payroll & Category Wise Payroll Reports. It will also have Bank Letter Report, CP Fund Report, Hajj Fund Report and Income Tax deduction Report monthly wise. The software will be protected and will need authentication to use. Only authorized users can use the software. There will be an area for Admin of the software, who will be able to Manage Users like Adding, Modifying, Removing Users & changing their passwords.

This software will have another area called “Payroll Operations” under “Payroll System” which is the core of this software. We can generate salaries of all employees, after completing Entries of Employees, default Allowances & default Deductions. This area will able us to generate monthly salaries of all employees monthly.

Technology It was decided, that we will use Open Source software for this purpose. PHP Scripting Language will be used as front-end programming language. PHP is Free, Secure, Robust, Stable and having built-in support for almost all databases. MySQL will be used as back-end database Server. It is light, Free, Stable and the fastest database engine. HTML will be generated on the fly from running php scripts. This project will also use HTML, JavaScripts and CSS (Cascading Style Sheet). Apache web server will be used for testing of the project.

Tools Used Adobe Dreamweaver will be used for layouts and writing of HTML. CSS (Cascading Style Sheet). PHP codes. MySQL.
