Little Isaiah was just five years old when he was diagnosed with leukemia. His doctors told his parents that the only known cure for Isaiah was a marrow or cord blood transplant.
Because Hispanics and Latinos are underrepresented on the registry, Isaiah’s parents worried that a donor could not be found in time to save Isaiah’s life. His doctors turned to the Be The Match RegistrySM to find someone like you— someone willing to give a small part of himself so another can live. Nearing two years posttransplant, this little boy is alive and well, continuing to be a blessing in his parents’ lives. Isaiah says, “My father told me that getting a transplant was like sharing something really special.” Now Isaiah can grow up to share his gift of life with the world.
