Recruitment, selection, retention policy and procedure of Britannia industries ltd



Objective



Britannia started in 1892 as a small biscuit company in Calcutta. As time moved on, the biscuit market continued to grow… and Britannia grew along with it. In 1975, the Britannia Biscuit Company took over the distribution of biscuits from Parry's who till now distributed Britannia biscuits in India. In 1992, it celebrated its Platinum Jubilee. In 1997, the company unveiled its new corporate identity - "Eat Healthy, Think Better" - and made its first foray into the dairy products market. Britannia strode into the 21st Century as one of India's biggest brands and the pre-eminent food brand of the country.

Introduction

a centralized policy with their entire HR control at Bangalore grades for each level like 1-3 grades for officer level 4-5 for managerial level Every job has job description with it the HR manger is for negotiation of salary and compensation

recruitment  they go for campus placements, employees referral, online recruitment at Britannia portal and have also hired the services of consultancy firm named AXIS CONSULTANCY. Both internal and external recruitments

Recruitment

For

selection they conduct multiple rounds of interview before final offer and they have pre employment medical examination before appointment.

Selection

For

retention they follow the concept of job rotation based on the competency of individual employee. In Britannia the attrition rate is 15-20% at senior level and 15% at managerial level. conduct exit interviews and they believe in maintaining long term relations with the employees.

Retention

They

also have an assessment center and development centre which the documentation is done in which they assess the capabilities of employees from time to time and also given training and they are called as future managers.

Working

conditions – rated satisfactory Work culture being best thing about working in the organization as stated by most of them Rewards and recognition – mixed feedback Parameters helpful in retaining employees – caring for employees, retaining high quality employee ,teamwork ,valuing diversity But major hindrance has been monetary aspect and need improvement

At

the end conclusion is that overall working in the organization and also recruitment , selection ,retention strategies are rated good by the employees but the only factor hindering was the monetary factor . Improvement can reduce attrition rate.
