4. Work Schedule The Lead Teacher for the three-year-old class will work Mondays and Wednesday from 8am to 1pm. The class itself will run those same days from 9am to 12pm. The Waldorf Preschool Academy follows the Edmonton Public School District’s calendar observing all holidays, breaks, and professional development days. As such, this class does not run during the summer break months or on holidays. Some evenings and weekends will be worked as required for home visits with students, staff meetings, and planning/set up, but will not be a regular necessity. 5. Standards of Conduct The Waldorf Preschool Academy embraces a Code of Ethics that includes: Diligence, Professionalism, A Desire to Learn and Improve, Respect, and Collaboration. Members of the WPA staff will be expected to work hard and use their time wisely and efficiently while at work. They will conduct themselves in a professional manner towards parents, coworkers, and students. Staff will attend trainings and interviews to review and discuss personal ongoing improvement. They will respect the children in the school by treating them fairly and equitably. Staff will also collaborate with parents and other staff members to work towards the best practices for the children in their care. In addition to following this Code of Ethics, we also expect teachers to abide by the Waldorf Preschool Academy dress code for teachers. This includes khaki pants, the Waldorf Preschool Academy polos you will be issued, and modest comfortable footwear. We encourage staff and teachers to arrive early for work. We also advise teachers that we maintain a completely smoke-free/vape-free facility and grounds out of respect for the health of the children placed in our care. Inability to abide by these standards of conduct may result in termination from the position. 6. Resignation and Termination Resignation: When staff members have decided to move on with their professional careers, we wish them the best and ask that they provide, where possible, a month’s notice so that an adequate replacement may be found for their position. The resigning staff member will notify the program director verbally and in writing of their expected day of leave. Termination: When staff members have failed to abide by the standards of conduct of the Waldorf Preschool Academy, or if other behavioral or professional problems persist, involuntary termination may occur. When inadequate behavior is observed in a staff member, they will receive an official, confidential warning from the program director. If the behavior continues, that person will be put on probation for a week. During that week if the behavior improves dramatically and visibly, the staff member will be taken off probation. If the behavior does not improve, that staff member will be terminated from employment with Waldorf Preschool Academy. If a staff member has intentionally put a child or other staff member in immediate danger, this may be grounds for immediate termination.
