Never in their lives have the overseas Filipinos become active players in their own economic emancipation as now. The advent of the Internet has actually made it possible for many of them to come together to discuss ways to improve their lot, and to finally make a concr ete move to realize their dream - that of establishing a bank which they can call their own .... (from the article “On to Economic Freedom” written by Ms Freda Contreras of Kuwait).

We want to establish a bank truly and predominantly owned by us, OFWs - a bank that should serve us, without prejudice against OFWs. For this reason your participation is badly needed in this noble venture. Our approach is unconventional because we are the pioneers whose strengths lie on our cohesive collective effort.

The OFW Bank, when in operation in 2006, will be “fully owned and patronized by OFWs themselves... it is envisioned to be the ‘sweetest fruit and nectar’ of the sweat, and sacrifices of Filipinos who ventured to work outside of their mother countr y because of economic hardships.”
