Official Press Release Sexual Assault (Update) Haverford College Campus
False Report On Monday April 13th 2009 the Haverford Township Police Department responded to the Haverford College Campus for a report by a female student that she had been sexually assaulted. A joint investigation of the incident by Haverford Township Police Department Detective Unit and Haverford College Security, has determined that this incident was fictitious and falsely reported and that no assault had occurred. The statements, alleging that the female had been sexually assaulted by an unknown assailant, were determined to be fictitious and the physical evidence found at the scene was determined to have been fabricated by the student. The Haverford Township Police Department is working along with the Haverford College Administration to address community member and student concerns regarding this issue. The college will facilitate efforts with students affected by this incident to allow them to process and recover from this report and bring closure to this highly emotional issue. Pending review by the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office, the name of the female student making the false report currently is not being released.
