Presentation of D01 The ICONS Project Presentation

Bartosz Nowicki Rodan Systems S.A.

The ICONS project objectives • Development of knowledge representation techniques and methodologies for a multimedia content repository • Development of user interface design and management tools meeting the requirements of the information architecture methodology • Design and implementation of efficient algorithms for management of large distributed multimedia content repositories • Development of an analysis and design methodology for large, knowledge-based content repository systems 2

The general project approach • Select an existing content management platform to be used as the ICONS prototype testbed • Integrate relevant research result and standards in a coherent ICONS architecture • Achieve original research results in relevant project areas • Demonstrate the viability of the ICONS architecture in a real application environment

3

The ICONS research stream • • • •

Assessment of tools, standards and methods (ICS) Multi-paradigm knowledge representation (U. Of Ulster) Advanced graphic user interface (ICS) Distributed Content Repository (Dauphine)

4

The ICONS technical stream • ICONS architecture design (CO1) • Development of the ICONS prototype (CO1)

5

The ICONS demonstration stream • Design ans development of the “NAS Best Practices” portal (Sema) • Exploitation and dissemination of project results (CO1)
