Test questions constructed are real situations in life aimed to measure the competencies of a beginning safe nurse practitioner. This is assessed through application, interpretation, analysis, decision-making and problem solving of the specific situation presented. This validates and tests the competencies of the beginning health care practitioner to care for the clientele across age groups and across gender safely. 12

Glossary of Terms: Patient Care Competencies is a cluster of key areas of responsibility which serves as the core of competencies which includes safe and quality care, communication, collaboration and teamwork and health education. 16
