As the younger generation is shifting to newer cities and relocating to new places in search of better opportunities, they tend to ignore their ageing parents and grandparents who either have to move to an old age home or stay alone at home with their children gone to work. Through this project, I have researched both in terms of the Indian phones and those available abroad to design a phone especially for seniors above the age of 60 years. The design of the device is not limited to the user experience of the software and the features and applications; rather, it expands itself to interventions in hardware design by suggesting the possible forms and extra features that make it more usable and intuitive. Deliverables: User study, Personas, Scenarios, Information Architecture, Software Interactions, Wireframes, Hardware Research, Hardware modification proposal. Tools Used: Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Visio, Freemind

E-menus is a system in which touch screens are integrated within the tables of the restaurant. This enables the customers to have a look at the dish/ cuisine they want to have and also helps them to pay then and there. The functionality extends by helping them to kill the wait time by games, magazines etc. A user study was then done on them and the customers of the place(s). After identifying the loopholes, the idea was then taken forward. Existing technologies were studied, cost factors were taken into consideration, and also the ergonomic issues regarding the system- both physical and cognitive- were studied. Apart from the inside the restaurant, other scenarios were also taken into consideration and the possibilities of implementation in them were chalked too. The prototyping level was taken to be paper prototyping and making the mock up of how the physical model would look. Before that, various other models were sketched and seen critically as either being faulty or future prospects.

The aim of this project is to facilitate the learning of the students through these technologies – serving two purposes; one being that getting them acquainted to the newest available technologies around and the other being that making them understand the subjects in a clearer way through different modes of teaching like videos, pictures etc. The project started with observing the present scenario of schools and teaching and the use of various multimedia in it. It further continued while keeping in mind the gesture based technology that can be incorporated and also the possibilities of its acceptance. Through a user research and study in various educational institutions, a need for the gesture based interactive system was felt as an aid for teaching. From all the available concepts, the domain of geography was taken with the specification of maps. It was found to be readily acceptable as a problem domain and finally a product was made which can facilitate the learning and the teaching of maps in schools.

Storytelling has been existent in the society since the early ages as an interesting medium for the children to learn and grow. The fantasy element of stories allows them to reflect more clearly on their real encounters through powerful imaginary experience. This project is an attempt to explore the opportunities of storytelling in the digital era. KAHAANI is a concept of an interactive floor designed for children. The concept is a matrix of tiles where the child has to select characters and situations from the available alternatives and construct a story. The story built by the child is played as an audio visual for the child, which in turn motivates the child to explore the mystery element of selecting a different option every time. It deals with the elements of play, identification, anticipation, story building, dialog and storytelling.
