Unit 3 :PROTECTON Lesson 1 :PROTECTIONFROM DANGER Like animal ,plant also need to protect themselves from enemies,strong wind and dry reagion. 1.CENTIPEDE HAVE VENOMOUS STING THAT CAN CAUSE PAIN AND DEATH TO THEIR ENEMIES . 2.MELEPEDES CULR UP THEIR BODIES TO PROTECT THEMSELVES FROM DANGER. 3.BED BUG ARE SMELLY TO KEEP AWAY THEIR ENEMIES. 4.SCOPIONS HAVE STING TO PROTECT THEMSELVES. 5.PORCUPINES HAVE SHARP SPINES AROUND THEIR BODIES TO KEEP ENEMIES AWAY FROM THEM. 6.MOTHS HAVE TO LARGE SPOTS ON THEIR WINGS WHICH LOOK LIKE TWO EYES.

7.CHAMELEONS HAVE THE ABILITY TO CHANG THEIR BODY COLOUR SIMILAR TO THE BACKGROUND TO CONFUSE THEIR ENEMIES. 8.PANGOLINS HAVE HARD SCALES TO PROTEC THEIR BODY FROM BIENG HURT.

LESSON 2 :LIVING IN EXTREME WEATHER IDENTIFY THEIR SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS AND BEHAVIOURS TO HELP THEM PROTECT THEM- SELVES FROM HOT WEATHER. 1.CAMEL HAVE HUMPS ON THEIR BACK TOSTORE FOOD AND WATER.THEY CAN DRINK AS MUCH AS 200 LITRES OF WATER A DAY. 2.RHINOCEROSES KEEP THEIR BODIES COOL BY WOLLOWING IN MUD HOLES. 3.DESERT FOXES HAVE LONGS EARS TO LOSE HEAT EASILY. 4.SOME DESERT BIRD MAKE HOLES IN CACTUS PLANTS. 5.KANGGAROO RAT KEEP FAT IN THEIR TAILS.WHEN THERE IS NO WATER,THE FAT CAN BE CHANGED INTO WATER. 6.MOST DESERT ANIMALS REST DURING THE DAY TO KEEP AWAY FROM HEAT. 7.POLAR BEARS HAVE THICK FURS TO ENABLE THEM TO LIVE IN VERY COLD WEATHER.

8. PENGUINS HAVE THICK LAYERS OF FAT UNDER THEIR SKINS TO KEEP THEIR BODIES WARM. 9. ARTIC FOXES SLEEP DURING COLD WEATHER AND COVER THEIR BODIES WITH THEIR LONG TAILS. 10.ANIMALS LIKE SEALS AND WALRUSES HAVE THICK LAYERS OF FAT TO KEEP THEMSELVES WARM. MOST COLD REGION ANIMALS HAVE SMALL EARS TO PREVENT FROM LOSING HEAT.

LESSON 3:SURVIVAL YOU HAVE LEARNT THAT ANIMALS HAVE SPECIFIC CHARACTERISTICS AND BEHAVIOURS TO PROTECT THEM FROM ENEMIES AND EXTREME WEATHER . THIS ENABLE THEM TO SURVIVE.

Armadillos find food at night . When they are attack by their enemies , they curl theirbodies into a ball. The hard scales protect them against their enemies.

Arctic foxes are able to survive changes in the weather . Their fur is brown in summer but turns into white in winter.This help them hide from their enemies.
