In Praise of the Primordial Mother The Divine as a Mother - a power without the need to rule
1
There exists a power in the universe Beyond space, beyond time It is a movement created by love, compassion and evolution The cause of time, cause of creation Cause of life and knowledge She is a power in you – a power in me A power you can feel – a power in motion A power you can give – a power you can receive She is so close to me Gently moving me to keep evolving She is so kind to me Gently making me forgive myself and others She is so dear to me Gently touching me to give comfort to my heart The Mother is a power without the need to rule The Mother is a power with a purpose to develop The Mother is a power free to share with all 2
Eka A meditation on the silence of the self
3
Deep inside of me, there is a lake It is still, reflecting a mountain like a mirror My mind is silent when I look at it There, a ripple seems to distort the reflection It is not disturbing But spreads a wave of joy throughout my body Silence sets back in again The lake seems immeasurably deep The reflection of the mountain unimaginably pure
4
Who am I? Realizing the self
5
Who am I? Am I these thoughts? Am I the expanding space in between these searching thoughts? Am I this face, am I this heart, am I this longing? Am I the silence of deep emotion? Am I the silence beyond the flow of inspiration? Am I the silence penetrating every pore as I become aware of you? Am I eternity captured in a single moment? Am I awareness of the realm beyond a time or space? Am I joy of unison, Father, Child and Mother reflecting in my soul? I am I no more I am myself
6
The Love in the Heart About the desire to express my love without being misunderstood
7
The love in the heart With depth in understanding Teaching without talking Feeling without sensation Knowing without reaction The love in the heart is patient Longing to flow without a thought Longing to care without fear of being misunderstood The love in the heart is patient At times down to a trickle like a river in the summer At times swelling to a stream like a river in the spring It knows the Mother is the source that keeps it alive While we learn to express the joy of being one
8
Seven Haikus A poetic journey through subtle centers of love and life
9
Innocence in me Like a tree in the fall Leaves return in spring
Master of my peace No Illusion leads me The sea is my home
Diplomat of joy Dancing in the universe Evolving myself
Creativity Inspired by knowledge Bliss reaches the sun
Mother is safety Heart is home of my spirit Eternal I am
Forgiving myself Forgiving mind and ego Becoming the light
Love is everlasting Everything reflects in my soul Children of Mother
10
Harmony A meditation on the harmony of knowledge, innocence and forgiveness
11
If only innocence rules inside There is no need for forgiveness No knowledge of harm disturbs the peace Only the purest knowledge of love sings within If there is silent knowledge There is no need to forgive Oneness with the self makes it pure Harmony resonates in every wave of thought If there is knowledge of harm Forgiveness leads the way Innocence can show the path to love Harmony is permeating every wave of thought The Mother heals with a loving touch of subtle breeze
12
Innocence Innocence as a state of mind - precious and powerful
13
Innocence is not a word from puritans Innocence is honesty – to myself and others Innocence is not just children’s play Innocence is powerful – a state of mind Innocence gives love of universal nature Innocence gives joy with everlasting freedom Innocence does not know of fear Innocence can restore itself when harmed It is an island in the ocean of my soul It is a place the Mother has created out of care It is a place of refuge yet of knowledge It is place where I am myself – yet no one is excluded A place where children come together A place where children trust each other A place eternally protected by the Mother
14
One Inspired by a meditation on forgiveness
15
I am one One with myself One with the child inside of me One with joy bubbling in my heart One with the spirit of eternity I am one One with the Mother in my heart One with the Mother nurturing me from the earth One with the Mother in the space of the universe One with the Mother silently protecting me I am one One with the here and now
16
The Freedom of a Sister and a Brother Because sometimes we forget how beautiful it is to have a brother or a sister (by birth or chosen)
17
She can say what she thinks She can do what she wants She can laugh when she feels like laughing She can joke when she feels like joking Her brother is there to listen Her brother is there to understand She can be serious when required She doesn’t need to be afraid She is loved no matter what She is looked after when in need He can tease her if he wants As long as it’s not mean He can protect her if he sees a need He can be told off by her if he needs to be He can advise her if he feels He can embarrass himself It’s ok! The Mother is there to look after both of them 18
For a Sister on Raksha Bandhan Day Raksha Bandhan is a festival in India on which girls celebrate the relationship with their brothers and also can choose a new brother for life
19
The atmosphere is filled with joy So much sweetness in the air The heart responds in gratitude It makes me smile Lifts me up On a wave of love Far beyond the mind There our Mother touches me Smiles on me Touches you – smiles on you How much this love is blessed? It’s not human – it’s Divine!
20
A Thank You to a Sister A poem describing the spiritual effects of the Raksha Bandhan ceremony
21
You bow to me I bow to you With rays of love your bandhan is engulfing me Mother Kundalini streams with joy What cleansing flow What cooling wind The lotus opens Fragrance pure and innocent flows down on me – reflects on you The kumkum silences my thoughts While the rice poured with such devotion touches my Mother’s feet As she dances full of happiness Dances in the center of the lotus Dances – blessing me & you You give a string which binds me now in love to you – but wait! ...
22
It binds me not – it frees my heart Pouring out its love without a need Without a quest, without a want There’s something I want to say – but the sweetness of the candy keeps me quiet lets me enjoy the moment I bow to you You bow to me
23
24
Mother Haiku A meditation on how the silent teachings of a mother can take away all fears
25
Beauty of Mother Piercing the cocoon of fear Silence can be taught
26
Honesty and Truth On how truth can sometimes be quite elusive and needs to be paired with honesty if to be trusted
27
Why is it that truth is often told to deceive? Truth is often incomplete and rarely knowledge that is pure? Honesty springs from wisdom and from innocence Honesty spreads knowledge that can care Honesty brings trust to human life Honesty is taught by the Mother Honesty is demanded by the Father Honesty keeps me on the path to Truth
28
Love Through Caring and Knowing Using nature (inside and outside) to reach the state of meditation and knowledge
29
Innocence brings about the wisdom I have been seeking The sun and the moon combine to give balance Balance to the roller coaster of my life The earth rejoices as my heart connects with her Gently sending out her caring love As my attention extends roots of grateful embrace The motherly flow of knowledge begins to rise Understanding envelops my brain Lifting my heart to unite with the universe Oneness has found a home
30
The Stranger A meditation on temptation and redemption
31
Children of one Mother Listening to the wisdom of old We feel safe Playing with each other in her watchful gaze We feel safe Her feet in the corner of our eyes We feel safe Climbing on the mountain, aware of her presence We feel safe When the stranger’s voice is whispering It may sound like fun The stranger’s gaze is tempting us May make us feel all grown up The stranger’s tasks lead to new adventures May make us feel curious ... 32
The voices of wisdom sound so stale When we start to grow up The children’s playful gestures seem so boring When we start to grow up The Mother’s protective gaze appears so limiting When we start to grow up In the strange world We don’t need our Mother In the strange world We are above the others In the strange world The stranger’s affection sets us apart The Mother feels so far When the confusion sets in All grown up The safety of her voice has lost its comfort And being lost in our greatness loses its fun When the guilt sets in ... 33
Luckily the Mother’s loving hands are never far When we become small again Luckily her gaze is still as loving When we move back into the presence of her being It may take a little time But the play of the children will be sweet again
34
Love of the Spirit Spiritual love might be different from romantic love but no less powerful and rewarding
35
Love of the Spirit Love – from a mother to her child Love – from a brother to his sister Love – pure and beautiful Love – unchanging and unconditional Love – provided by the mother within Love – enhancing the joy from inside Love – planting the seed for a spiritual life Love of the Spirit
36
That Day in Paris The day I met my spiritual mother and teacher
37
Recently I was thinking: Where is my alliance? Is it with good, is it with evil? I know: It is not! I was thinking: Should I follow my heart? Or should I follow my head? I know: I should not! My alliance is with a vision that I had on an airport in Paris Five minutes before She stepped out - into my sight I felt the friendship of brothers and sisters united in their love for their Mother No groups, no races, no religions No leaders, no workers, no thinkers No healthy, no sick, no heroes, no failures Humanity united in their love for their Mother ...
38
When she stepped out through that door I was surprised Surprised how small she was Surprised how vulnerable she seemed Her smile captured my eyes I gave her a flower She accepted my heart Seeing her smile lifted me beyond her human form All the way to God Seeing her children made me fall in love with humanity Humanity in all its weaknesses capable of such a love Such a love of children for their Mother Such a love of children for each other
39
40
A House Built of Love, Knowledge and Experiences Meditation comes easy with the help of the mother but to develop a strong spiritual foundation body and mind need to be strengthened by experiences of life
41
My house is still in progress, Waiting to be built, brick by brick The Mother helped me build a roof so the rain does not dissolve the mortar She gave me shelter in her house while the winter storms were blowing She showed me knowledge from which my house is built She led me to experiences which became the pillars She gave me love which holds the house together It’s so warm and cozy in the Mother’s house\ The light falls through the windows Revealing all the beauty Tables full of food and drinks To nurture me and give me strength ...
42
Though the Mother really wants me to complete my house For others to find shelter For others to gain strength She wants me to have a place to share the knowledge She wants me to have a place to share the love So more often now she sends me out to continue working on my house Even if it’s cold, even if it’s windy She sends me out to collect experiences on my own Even if they are hard to carry, even if they hurt Her love, though is always there for me to take Which gives me hope my house will once become a palace Worthy of the Mother’s presence Worthy of the Mother’s love
43
44
Human Cultures Like flowers and trees, human relationships and societies need to be nurtured to grow and develop
45
Human Cultures are like flowers on a field Sprouting, budding with the rain of love There comes along the time of spring See the beauty, inhale the fragrance Like the bees, the humming birds drink the nectar of generosity Inspired like a painting filled with Mother Nature's art One step at a time it becomes complete The culture of the heart
46
Flowers of the Heart How small seeds of love and joy can have a profound effect on the human heart
47
A flower of love grew in heart's wide and open land A flower of joy blossomed Spreading its fragrance far around They both joined in a most mysterious way Giving rise to nature’s most nourishing play The flowers became fruits And the fruits bore seeds The seeds grew flowers anew Spreading in heart’s wide and open land The Mother smiled watching the play It was her, who first planted the seeds It was out of her, the flowers first grew Giving rise to love and joy in heart’s wide and open land
48
Meaning Expression of a desperate desire to find meaning in life
49
Where's the meaning? How can I understand? Where's the Mother? Where's the love within? Frustration all over me! Can't see the life! Where is this going? What am I doing here? Mother, please help! Help me to see the love Help me to feel the joy Give strength to this waning pulse Let my attention move within Let me find the place where you reside Mother! Open up this heart of stone Let it pump the cooling flow of joy Let it wash away this filthy mud of darkened thoughts ...
50
Let me find myself! Let me lose myself! Let me give myself to you! Let not frustration cover up the beauty of my soul Lift me up so high above Let not the darkness swallow up the peace of mind Let the silence soothe my thoughts I want to be immersed in soulful meaning of the highest Want to spread the joyful meaning of the self Want to give the loving purpose of being one Make me a fountain Strong enough to spray afar the loving drops And quench the thirst of many
51
52
Fire and Light Redemption through the elements after the end of life
53
Fire and Light Water and Air Tenderly are cleansing me The clear and open sky With view of stars Gently does comfort me The Mother in the distance Lovingly pulls me to her feet Happy, full of joy, she embraces me
54
A light emanating from the soul An ode to the life of a dear friend
55
There is a light in the beginning of life Born from the innocence of a child Born from the love of a mother A light in the youth Born from the urge to discover the world Born from the urge to rattle the walls of the world A light in the fullness of life Born from the songs of the birds and the bees Born from the laughter of children Born from the joy of enlightenment A light beyond the life Born when the soul touches the feet of the everlasting Mother This light of love, slowly and caringly permeates, displaces and dissolves the darkness of the world
56
An Introspection For a friend who lived his life imperfectly but with lots of generosity, love, and poetry
57
Sometimes people have to die Sometimes people just move on when they know that they are ready Nobody is perfect that is why we are human We were made to fall so that we can grow in Mother’s fertile soil It is our ability to absorb her love that counts It is our desire to evolve which makes us look beyond It is the knowledge of the soul which makes us grow higher Seeking out the truth It is the joy of seeing Mother’s caring smile which makes us want to give the love received
58
Pure Desire A desire deeply embedded in my soul trying to reach the surface of my being
59
Deep inside my being my soul is permeated with pure desire Desire that is steady Desire that is full of hope Desire generated by light within As this pure desire seeps through to the surface It encounters areas of darkness It encounters muddy swamps of fear It encounters hardened stones of rejection It encounters forces of past misdeeds So, when it reaches the surface of my being Sometimes, it has become a darkened stream Mostly, though, it is just colored Enriched with experience and knowledge Still carrying the light that gave it birth within Sometimes, though, ... 60
When this desire, still pure, touches my heart the enlightened flow shoots through my being like a fountain The fountain then creates a river A river streaming with love and light Desires putting my inner turbines to work Creating actions Actions, gentle and benevolent Actions, which make the Mother smile Actions, flowing with love, compassion, evolution Actions, which strive for union with the greater one Actions, which are helping pure desires enriched with love and light streaming to the surface in my fellow human beings
61
62
Love and Joy Written for my wife, when we were communicating over continents
63
Love and Joy bubble in my heart when I see you Love and Joy bubble in my heart when I think of you Love and Joy bubble in my heart when I touch you Love like emanating from the smile of a mother Joy like celebration in the pride of a father Attention commanded by your presence Action required by your glance You are with me in my heart You are part and parcel of my soul I cannot be without you for even a fraction of a moment You are with me in my heart You are part and parcel of my soul
64
The Painter How and why does the divine manifest as a human being?
65
The painter paints with Love a painter in the painting Behold, the painter’s Love makes the painter in the painting a source of life The painter looks with Joy at the painter in the painting The painter in the painting paints with Love other painters in the painting The painter in the painting looks with Joy at the other painters in the painting Behold, the painter in the painting’s Love makes the other painters in the painting full of life The other painters in the painting see their painter in the painting ...
66
The other painters paint with Love an image of their painter in the painting The other painters look with Joy at the image of their painter in the painting The other painters look with Love at each other
The painter looks with Joy and Love at the image of the painter in the painting The painter paints with love the next painter in the painting
67
68
Sorrow - What Sorrow? Written for my fiance
69
I think of the future Is there sorrow I think? I think of the past Is there sorrow I think? My mind goes to you My heart fills with joy! I might try to think of the sorrow the future might hold I might try to think of the sorrow the past experiences have told But then I feel the presence of you in my heart ...
70
I feel the Mother playfully made us meet Divine is her art She looks out to the future with a smile While we worry about our part What sorrow can there be? What worry can there be? With your image dancing next to my spirit’s light How doest the future look anything but bright with our Mother’s loving eyes set upon our lives? She planted the seed Embedded in the melting of our lives our fate became one by her vision divine By faith in her a tree will rise Spreading its fruits sublime
71
72
Angel For an angel who briefly touched my life
73
Angel How beautiful you are How wise and generous you are Your touch creates a spark of joy in me Angel You transform the world around Slowly you generate, slowly you dissolve Slowly you create, slowly you resolve Angel How beautiful you are How much joy you give to me
74
Fast pace of love? An early letter to my wife
75
Fast pace of life - where does it lead? Fast pace of thinking - is this me? Fast pace of love - can this be? My heart is longing for thee Quietly and steadily For the beauty and wisdom of thee There is no hurry – not at all Love needs time to penetrate the heart Love needs time to create the joy of romantic art Like a Mother slowly sees her child growing, developing needing to be cared for Gently and mild
76
An amazing poetic journey through the mystery of the human heart. The poet uses the guidance of an inner motherly force to explore meditation and feelings in search of pure love and self-realization.
