What is the best way to revise? You may be wondering. Revision requires planning and learning needs to be active. You should decide how many days you need to study for each subject. Allocate more time for your weaker subjects. Break them down into smaller units so that they are more manageable. Revise pasts tests and exam papers to acquaint yourself with possible exam format questions and the format. Draw pictures to represent the facts you want to remember. It is easier to remember visual facts than pages and pages of notes. Try mind mapping. Draw a tree trunk in the middle of the page and eight branches coming out or a spider with eight legs. The facts will be written in the eight sections of the paper. The brain remembers information in chunks and a diagram leaves an imprint in your mind better than a page full of words. Use coloured paper and coloured pens to highlight your notes so that you can recall facts easily. (Adapted from ‘Just English’ , January 2005)
