Research project on the decreasing Market Share of Dairy Food Industries. Project Manager:M.Umair Hussain Project Sponsor:Sir Tahir Aziz Khan Back Ground:Pakistan is a agricultural country, who basically fulfils most of its needs through trading of agricultural products. Few decades back, Pakistan was thought to be a investment heaven for dairy products for local as well as for foreign investment. After thorough analysis many international dairy food industries did investment in Pakistan, one best and common example is Nestle Dairy foods. There are also many local brands, trying to start battle with foreign industries like Olpers, Halib Foods and many alike. During the past 4-5 years, the years of great depression where every industry is trying to cut off their production and to go for downsizing in the whole world, Pakistan also have to become the victim of this great recession due to which Dairy food industries was also hit badly. Although there were great efforts by the company’s’ owner but still they are facing lot of problems. Pakistan is the fifth largest producer of the milk in the world with a total production of 28 billion litre of milk a year, whose value is more than that of the combined value of wheat and cotton, from a total herd size of 27 million milch animals like buffaloes and cows. There is a consensus among the stakeholders and the development experts that Pakistan’s Dairy Sector has immense potential for growth. The same has not been realized due to various gaps. The vital missing link being lack of shared vision and strategy for the development and lack of effective collaboration among the stakeholders including support institutions and the government agencies to implement the agreed strategy.
