PONDICHERRY INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES Admission to Post Graduate Medical Courses in un-aided Medical Educational Institutions in Pondicherry State

General In pursuance to the decision of the Apex court in Islamic Academic Educational and Another Vs State of Karnataka and others dated 14-08-2003, a Common Entrance Test is to be conducted by an Association of Pondicherry Un-aided (Self-financing) Professional Colleges. Now Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences has been granted permission to conduct Common Entrance Test in the name of “Common Entrance Test for Postgraduate Medical Courses-2009” (CETPGMC-2009) for the purpose of selection & admission of students for Postgraduate course in the Private colleges under the Management Quota. The application is meant for registering the candidate for Common Entrance Test (CETPGMC-2009) for Postgraduate courses conducted by “Pondicherry INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES.”

Eligibility for Admission As per pre-requisite admission to the PG course, Candidates must have appeared in CETPGMC-2009. However, mere appearance in CETPGMC-2009 will not automatically qualify a candidate for admission to PG courses; the candidate should fulfill the necessary admission requirements prescribed by the Medical Council of India for that degree course.

Hall Ticket After processing the application form the Hall Ticket for CETPGMC-2009, containing the Name, Registration Number, Photograph and Entrance Test Center will be sent to the candidate by post. (Names of eligible candidates will also be displayed on the website). The Hall Ticket must be produced at the time of Entrance Test. Without the Hall Ticket no candidate will be permitted to write the test. Mobile Phones will not be allowed inside the Exam hall.

Duplicate Hall Ticket If the Hall Ticket is not received by 17-03-2009 the candidate should contact the CETPGMC-2009 test center - 'Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences' Pondicherry with two passport size photographs and proof of having applied for CETPGMC-2009 to get the Duplicate Hall Ticket.

Rank List of “Common Entrance Test” (CETPGMC 2009) Rank List showing the marks scored by the candidate in the Common Entrance Test will be displayed in the notice board of the College soon after the Publication of result and also it will be hosted in the website.

Instructions and Guidelines to Fill the Application Form Candidates desirous of appearing for the Common Entrance Test (CETPGMC 2009) should fill their application in the prescribed format and send directly by Post / Courier. Candidates either have to use the application form given along with the Information brochure, or downloaded application form from the website www.pimsmmm.com Candidates who use the downloaded application form have to pay Rs.1,000/- (Rupees One thousand only) as a Demand Draft separately towards the cost of the application along with the completed application form. The Application and Information booklet can also be obtained in person on payment of Rs.1,000/- (Rupees One thousand only) by cash from the Office or can be obtained by Post by sending a requisition along with Demand Draft for Rs.1,050/- (Rupees One thousand and Fifty only) inclusive of postal charges drawn in favour of 'Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences' payable at Pondicherry. After processing, if found eligible, the Hall Ticket will be sent to the candidate by post. (Names of such eligible candidates will also be displayed on the website).

Minimum Academic Qualification Applicants should have passed the M.B.B.S. from an institution recognized by MCI and must have completed / be completing their internship by 30th April 2009 and also should have obtained a Permanent Registration from any State Medical Council in India before commencement of the Course.

PART-1 Basic Sciences:- including Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology and Forensic Medicine & Toxicology. - 100 Questions PART-2 Clinical Sciences:- including Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Community Medicine, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, ENT, Anaesthesiology, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Radio-diagnosis and Radio-therapy. - 150 Questions

The completed application form should reach the office before 5.00 p.m on 06-03-2009. CETPGMC will not be responsible for postal or any other delay. Incomplete / Wrongly filled application will be summarily rejected. The application received after the due date and time will also be summarily rejected and no further correspondence in the matter will be entertained.

Admission / no. of seats available are subject to MCI / Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Approval of the College.

The Candidate should send copy of the MCI recognized M.B.B.S qualification. The internship certificate and copy of the Permanent Registration obtained from any State Medical Council are mandatory for eligibility to register as a Post Graduate student.
