Text: Physical Science Spectrum. This text is also available on a CD and online; therefore no textbook will be issued. My eChalk site will have homework, test, and lab assignments posted weekly. Grades will be available on-line at www.mygradebook.com. Passwords will be distributed soon. Physical Science standards: https://www.ed.sc.gov/apps/cso/standards/supdocs_hs.cfm?#area_PS. Grades: Grades will be based on a point system. Tests will generally count 100 pts or more, while labs, homework, and class work will count between 10 and 50 points, depending on the requirements. Students will be provided a folder and notebook that will remain in the classroom. When homework is given, it will be a download on the computer or a worksheet. Late work will be penalized 10%. Students failing a test or quiz may retake it during lunch or after school for 80 points within one week of the assessment. Materials: * 70 page spiral bound notebook

* Inexpensive scientific calculator

Labs: Lab activities are planned weekly. Closed-toed shoes and safety goggles are mandatory for lab. Students can leave a pair of shoes in the lab room. The school will provide goggles, but students may wear personal goggles that conform to safety specifications. No student will be allowed in lab without a parent/student signed safety contract. Classroom Rules All of my class rules are in compliance with the rules in the LHS Student Handbook. I have added several for the necessity of safety and good order.        

No gum, food or drinks in the lab, no eating in the classroom. No personal grooming in the classroom. Arrive on time! Be prepared to work when the final bell rings. Remain in your seat unless you have permission of the teacher. Respect the rights and property of others. Do not interrupt the learning of others. Store all class material in or under the desk when not used. Follow all safety rules in class and lab.

Absences: Students must make up work for any absence. Lab activities cannot be made-up. Please make every effort to attend lab. My planning period this semester is 1st block. Please call during this time. I have found that e-mail to my home address has been the most reliable form of communication. Please assist me in establishing e-mail communications by sending me a test message. Once I have received it I can add your address to a class contact list. I am looking forward to the coming semester and welcome your comments and visits. PLEASE SIGN. This is a graded assignment. (Student will keep this copy in notebook. A copy is on my eChalk site) PARENT (print)_________________________
