PHOTOSYNTHESIS
Raw Materials Sunlight Carbon Dioxide(CO ) 2
Chlorophyll
Process Process of Photosynthesis has two phases
Light Phase Dark Phase
Light Phase It occurs in Thyllakoids of chloroplast. The chloroplast has chlorophyll-a and chlorophyll-b pigments. Stroma and Granna thyllakoids has PS-I and PS-II. These pigments utilize sunlight as photons.
Light phase has further two phases Phase-I ;PHOTOLYSIS OF WATER 2) 3)
4) 5)
In this reaction water dissociates into H+ and OH- . H+ converts NADP into NADPH2 which is utilized in dark phase. OH- are used to release oxygen and water molecules. Oxygen, thus released, is removed through leaves and water is used by the plant.
PHASE-II PHOTOPHOSPHATIZATION
When light falls on chl. molecule, egets excited and water molecule dissociate into H+ and OH- ions. OHform water(used by plant) and O2(released in the air).Ultimatly this reaction results into formation of ADP and ATP.
Dark Phase It occurs in stroma of chloroplast.ATP and NADPH2 are used in reduction of CO2 which enters in Calvin-Benson cycle to form carbohydrates and RuBP.
