Petrol engine Petrol engine is used in vehicles such as scooters, cars and buses. This type of engine is also known as internal combusting engine as combustion of fuels takes place inside the cylinder.

Working of Petrol Engine :-

In first step, small amount of hydrocarbon fuel is burnt in cylinder and inside the cylinder moveable piston is present. After ignition of fuel, large amount of heat will produce and resultant gases will create pressure on piston. This pressure will move piston toward outer side. After this, produced gases in previous step will cool down and this will lower the pressure on the piston and it will move it toward inner side.

Within fixed time this movement of piston toward inner and outer side. Repeats and vehicle will move. In this way burning hydrocarbon fuel Produce heat energy and this heat energy are transformed into mechanical energy.
