NHC: As a former obstacle course racer, I have learned in order to do well at my best peak performance I need to have the best food and fuel for my body. Not having the proper fuel can affect my performance before, during, and after a race and it can take long time for my muscles to recover after a race which is very important because when I am running miles and miles when I don’t have the proper energy and when muscles get fatigue it can seem impossible to finish a race. As a current student I am preparing to become a certified dietary manager because the way food is managed and prepared is just as important as teaching clients about the importance of food and health. To better prepare myself for this career path, I am currently training to become a food service manager at Panera Bread which will better prepare me for management experience as well as knowing what to do in day to day situations and problems and how to deal with it in a professional manner. I have chosen to go into dietetics because of the importance of wellness and health in all individuals. Health is a very important issue, especially in the United States with the obesity epidemic that goes to show that most of the population are either overweight or obese and we are getting more and more sick as a nation. I want to be able to turn this epidemic around in helping people become healthier and showing clients what goes into the food they are eating. Many people have no clue what nutrition value that is in the food, let alone what nutrients that we need daily. I want to teach people the importance of nutrients so people can gain more knowledge of food and nutrition. I have become more interested in sports and nutrition because I am passionate about working with athletes and training them to gain better knowledge about nutrition because they could be a beast at the gym, but if their diet is not in check it can drastically affect their performance. The way we eat can affect the energy, performance, speed, recovery, and endurance of athletes and I want to be able to help them gain confidence and increase their ability of the sport that they are in. I chosen to apply to this internship because of all the hands- on training and seminars that will better prepare me for this career. I like how in this internship how they practice different dietary practices within the 10 months you are there such as clinical, food service, wellness and fitness, and community so you get a bit of everything of supervised practiced that makes the internship unique and sets it apart from others. Having a practiced RD exam stands out from other internships because it will better prepare me of what is going to be on the exam and know what things I need to focus on is a major eye opener. I think it’s important to focus on different parts of dietary practices because it will make myself more competitive when finding a career. Having different dietary practices will help me know which area I want to focus on in my career. Being a perfectionate worker tends to be one of my strengths because I want everything to be as precise as possible with lots of detail. If I am teaching a client, I want them to get the best information from someone that they can trust. With that I am also a very hardworking. I will always go above and beyond of what is expected from me. I am always willing to help when help is needed because I think it’s important to be passionate about diet and health but as well as be a motivated worker when it comes to helping clients get the best results for their goals. I would be the best fit for this internship due to having many years of customer service experience which has prepared me when dealing with the public. I have worked in the restaurant and food industry for many years while learning many skills such as taking orders, dealing with phone-in calls, making food and drinks, and knowing what to do in different customer situations. Being in customer service has helped me deal with customers in high stress situations and learn how to deal with problems in a time efficient manner. Throughout my college years I have been able to maintain an above average GPA while working full time and going to school full time. I have learned to manage my time well with the strong desire of being able to help others achieve their health and wellness goals. I feel confident with
being able to place in the Dietetic Internship Program at National Healthcare Corporation. Thank you for your time and consideration. Victoria Noble
