TO: Professor Mandel FROM: Bryce Anderson SUBJECT: Personal Brand Narrative DATE: March 14th, 2019 INTRODUCTION After analyzing my own PeopleStyles results, self-assessment, and Outside Leadership Communication Evaluations, I felt much more comfortable with who I am not only as a leader, but as a person. I will go over how other people’s input matched, or differentiated with my own perception of myself, as well as what I learned about myself. This memorandum will give you insight on who I am outside of the classroom. It will also allow you to see if your perception of me matches others, thus giving you an idea of how accurate your perceptions of your students are. PeopleStyle Almost all of my survey respondents identified me as “expressive,” which matches what I received in my self-assessment. Two of my respondents answers however classified me as a “driver,” which I’m content with. I believe I’m a little bit of both. I know the first two respondents were my past employers (because I sent it to them first), who also were the two surveyors that had me as a driver. I believe they were lead to this result because of my aspirations to lead my own business one day, which starts with confidence and a desire to learn in the workplace. Cultural Map The cultural map results I received from my respondents showed me I don’t seem to perceive myself the same as my peers. I only received similar results for two out of the eight categories, communicating and deciding. For the rest, my number from the self-assessment was lower than the average number my peers gave me. However, what was most interesting was how in communication, evaluating, deciding, and disagreeing I received a “1” and “4” in each category. This is most likely based upon what my respondents have seen, and where they’ve seen it. For example, I communicate different with my friends than I do with coworkers or managers. Common Themes I was very humbled by the words my respondents used to describe me. Some similarities that stuck out were “hardworking, loyal, and intelligent.” The only different one I put for my selfassessment was respectful. I try to be respectful to everyone, until they lose my respect. Most of my life I’ve been told I tend to not give myself enough credit, and seeing these responses truly showed me that. I never think of myself as loyal or intelligent really, but with these

responses, it makes me shows me I’ve been doing something right, and people around me have taken notice. There were a few comments that were surprising to me as well. One of my respondents claimed that I have the “charisma where you want to listen to what he has to say.” That comment lead me to think back about when I’ve spoken during my past employments, or even in casual conversation and how people turn to look at me for what I have to say. I never really thought about it until reading that, and it tells me that people value what I have to say. Self-Evaluation This assignment allowed me to see myself from other’s point of view. It’s a rare thing to get to do, and it has shown me what I’ve been doing right, and what certain things I can work on moving forward. I’ve always sought out to be a leader, as well as a team player, but to see others see it too is very rewarding, and I appreciated the opportunity I was given by receiving others input.
