What makes a Firefly officer? (yawn)

A FIREfly officer is innovative, passionate, intelligent, enlightened, dynamic and most of all, ambitious both for oneself and for Singapore.

The FIREfly visual identity was developed to reflect the bright career opportunities available in the seven economic agencies, as well as the streams of lightcreated by those with the talent, passion and drive to contribute to Singapore's development. Rather than taking a literal approach to the visual interpretation of the name, FIREfly, the identity seeks to capture the spirit of dynamism and energy in theFIREfly. The glowing light trail is an important element of the identity as is the friendliness and modernity of the typography.

Idea: Main character, Mr. Firefly (FF) is originally a loser who has no qualities. He meets 5 people (separately) along the way, of which all have ONE specific quality (look @ Firefly’s qualities..) but they are lacking in something else. Recession / Evil guy is the antagonist. He embodies all the qualities opposite that of a role model Firefly scholar, for instance – overconventional, passive, imbecile (lol), noncompetitive and confounded… [[link to the fact that recession exists because these bad traits are present in Man today]] While each of these 5 ‘quality people’ are minding their own business, he pops by and makes a rude comment / kills them / destroys them. It makes them realize how important it is to have both their own quality, together with another important quality to be successful in life. Otherwise they’ll just be weak and easily defeated  On their deathbed, FF speaks to each of these quality people. They tell him their life story, and he learns the importance of having all of these special characteristics in order to be powerful, and to battle the Recession. FF saves / revives all of them, and they join FF in defeating Recession. Obviously, FF defeats Recession. All ends well, and Recession is redeemed by FF. **Song / dance after every quality is ‘imbibed’ in FF

Order of appearance

1. Intelligent (intelligent but not innovative)

Writing Sudoku Bad guy comes and kills him  saved by Firefly Imparting skills **INSERT SONG** and switch on his lightbulb. 2. Innovative (Innovative but not ambitious) Scientist has lots of ideas / diagrams / but he doesn’t dare to try it out (h1n1, HIV, Sars) Evil guy comes in and tears up his diagrams  Scientist is depressed. 3. Ambitious (Ambitious but not… you get the idea) Unhappy businessman from a rich family losing his mind – achieving a lot, money, power by having F1, build casinos.. but does not enjoy what he does. Starts reflecting… Evil guy comes and taunts him, makes rude comment. Businessman is about to commit suicide when he spots a FF dancing outside his window. FF saves the businessman. Buisnessman shows FF the benefits of having both ambition and passionate

4. Passionate Music teacher running a music school. Evil guy comes in and tells her to stay the way she is… Serenading her. She is convinced by him to stay to her traditional, mundane teaching style and methods. In the end, she has no $$ and starves, shriveling away Firefly comes along with food. Music teacher cries and says that she is unable to adapt to the changing times – all her students (played by the song committee LOL) have left her. FF suggests that she could change her approach, and helps her along. Song committee turns into dance committee. 5. Dynamic (DANCE ITEM!!!!!!) Street dancer Different dance and songs.. (Samuel will take full charge of this himself) Recession switches off the light. Ha ha….. and engulfs him in a black cloak. Street dancer is unable to continue dancing. Recession fights him in the dark.

6. Enlightened FF comes in with his 6 light bulbs and provides LIGHT to the fighting couple. Street dancer is amazed and enlightened. Recession runs away, knowing that his end is near.

Recession challenges firefly, thinking that he is like the rest of the losers he has met before. Unknown to him, FF is now a 6-quality-strong Firefly, the chosen one to defeat him!!!! The Final Battle begins. FF decides to redeem Recession. (oh we can have an additional quality --compassion)  7. SONG AND DANCE
