HSC Teacher Workshop Wednesday 3TH June 4:30pm – 6:30pm The Visual Arts and Design Educators Association of NSW seeks to promote the study of Visual Arts and Design education and to inspire as well as effectively support Visual Arts and Design teachers. As a part of this program a free workshop is being given to develop approaches in the development of a BOW and preparing for the HSC written examination. These workshops have already operated in Gymea and Newcastle with huge success. And plans are being made to go Wagga Wagga, Dubbo and Murwillumbah later this year. Attendance to this workshop will mean you receive profession help in terms of your preparation for your HSC students as well as effective resources will be given in paper form and a CD (providing study notes and powerpoints). and all is asked of you is your attendnce and consideration of joining VADEA the most dynamic professional association of Visual Arts Teachers. Presenters Jane Poiner and Graeme Coleman will explore strategies for success in both the practical and art history/criticism for stage 6 Visual Arts. The workshop will provide approaches in designing programs and activities that engages and inspires students’ learning in the HSC course. To reiterate the event teachers attending will receive program samples, a CD of student work with assessment comments and the opportunity to connect with other like-minded teachers. VADEA is attempting to unite Visual Arts and Design educators and provide professional development, curriculum information and resources. So come along its free and it will be in your professional interest. VADEA is a new professional teachers' association that has replaced the Art Education Society in NSW. Our goals include:

* Foster opportunities for professional development and promote of best practice in the field Visual Arts and design education, * Provide a forum to share ideas and establish a robust professional network, and support teachers through workshops, conferences, website, publications and other resources, * Connect visual arts and design educators in a range of fields, including galleries, museums, universities, high schools and primary schools. And service the needs of educators in both metropolitan and regional areas.
This is part of VADEA's regional workshop program, focusing on Western suburbs and Blue Mountains. This free workshop will present a range of pedagogical ideas that you can take directly back to the classroom. Focusing on HSC Art making and studying of history and Criticism, each participant will leave with an example program and lots of practical tips for teaching this subject, still relatively new to many schools.
