Gently used children's books needed for a school project! One of the classes in our school has received a Youth Service America/State Farm Insurance grant to help set up a small lending library in the tutoring room at the East Metro Women's Council, an organization in our community that supports families and children in need. Many children from EMWC attend our school. Our class has decided to participate in this project by donating books for children of all ages (especially appropriate for K - 5). These books will be used throughout the school year as well as over the summer. Please help us by donating new or gently used books in good condition. We will collect books until the 15th of April. Thank you for helping us.
Ms. Wagoner’s Weekly Newsletter March 23– March 27, 2009 What have we been up to? On Monday, students started a new unit on geometry. This week we focused on polygons –specifically triangles and quadrilaterals. Next week, we will review area and perimeter. Students also had the opportunity to grade sample MCA constructed response papers, after completing the problem on their own. In reading, we prepared for the MCA’s by taking practice tests. Students worked on different test-taking strategies. We also read about Jackie Robinson, in a selection titled Breaking Barriers. In Science, we have been covering different topics relating to life science. Students learned about different genes and traits passed on from their birth parents. Students also discussed the three important steps of the water cycle. A majority of this week was also spent preparing for the music performance. Both performances were outstanding! Students did a great job and should be very proud of themselves! Next week, we are back to a more regular schedule.
