LETTER OF RECOMMEDATION The team is made up of determined young people who strive annually to compete in Formula SAE, a first-rate international engineering competition spanning six continents and over 500 teams. The efforts of the Icarus Team culminate each year in bringing to the UFRJ a placement among the top 10 in Brazil. The challenge the team faces is great, its members participate in a real-world engineering exercise where they design, build and compete with formula cars. The winning team is determined not only by the speed of the car and its running on the track, but also by performance by acting on predefined business conditions that involve fuel economy, manufacturing costs, design criteria and car sales image. That is why I invite you and your organization to become a member of the Icarus family through our sponsorship program. Organizations such as yours can contribute to team goals through monetary investment, goods or services. Their support for the Icarus team will enable our students' learning to continue to expand and stand out by acquiring experimental knowledge outside the classroom and enabling them to understand the market in which they will enter. THE TEAM The Icarus UFRJ team of Formula SAE is an engineering competition team, a pioneer in the country, which since 2004 has been designing, manufacturing, testing and competing with a prototype of the Formula category, as well as Formula 1, Formula Indy, among others, to achieve your goals. Since our creation, by students of mechanical engineering at UFRJ, and together with the professor responsible, Fernando Castro Pinto, we compete against more than 40 teams, aiming to gain space in the international competition, which takes place in Michigan, USA. Our trajectory, among the top 10 ever, reflects the commitment and contribution of all those who have passed through it: students, teachers and sponsors of our team. Our members are undergraduate students in several engineering courses at UFRJ. However, we are not limited to this, reaching students of other undergraduate and postgraduate courses, such as physics, mathematics, industrial design, social communication and marketing, creating an interdisciplinary environment for the production of knowledge and experience, as we will speak later . In order to complete your projects, we have laboratories from UFRJ itself, technicians, teachers, and maybe you, a future member of the Icarus UFRJ Team! The goal of the competition is to give to the engieniering the oportunity of apply their knowladge acquired on the university in a simulatedprofessional enviroment by creating and developing a formula race car.

THE FORMULA SAE Created in 2004, the Formula Sae Brazil is going to your 15 th edition. In 2016 there were more than 1030 people enrolled from 50 teams, numbers that grown every year. The best teams in each year earn the right to represent Brazil in 2 international competitions on USA, Michigan and Lincoln.

OUR GOALS Superficially, most FSAE teams would say that their main goal is to get on the podium and be first place. However Icarus Team is not limited to that idea! Our goal, and reason to exist, is to develop our members within the 3 pillars that show our values, they are: academic, professional and interpersonal. Without them we would not achieve what we achieved and would not have prospective of achieve more. The developing, fabrication and validation are the tools used by us to develop ourselves as engineers inside the 3 pillars. And only this method that Icarus Team, along with you supports, will be one of the top developers of technical knowledge of Brazil. For this happen we count on your partnership, because one of the reasons of we being one of the top 10 team for almost 15 years is our sponsors.

SKID-PAD In an 8-way track, two turns are made for one direction and 2 turns on the other, in order to measure the performance of the car in turns.

22km, one stop is allowed. It looks for the shortest time possible, without any fault in the car. Any breakage, fluid leakage, etc. leads to elimination in the race. The cars that complete the race are judged by the fuel consumption in relation to the time spent, from an equation that determines the most efficient car.

THE PROTOTYPE

This car was total projected and developed by our team in 2016. In 2017 it was improved and got the 7th place in the national competition.
