This is a reply to the blog by Claire Brinberg, CNN Producer, entitled: “God hits the campaign trail”, posted last June 06, 2007. No man has the capacity to know the real being of anybody. I speak of the real being because the outward appearance of somebody can be just the opposite of what he really is inside. (Proverbs 23:6-7) “Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats: For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.” There is an ‘inner being’ in a man called in the Bible as the inward man. (2 Corinthians 4:16, 18) “For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day…” “…While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” It is this being that counts most in a man. (1 Peter 3:4) “But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.” The outward being is the cover of it which can be a manifestation of the inner or a camouflage of it. (Luke 16:15) “And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.” (Matthew 23:27) “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchers, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.” The good or the evil within is known only to God. (Jeremiah 17:9-10) “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.” Is there a window we can peep through to know what exactly is inside, for us to choose who among these presidential candidates of the United States of America can be of lesser evil to society if elected?
The Bible gives us a clue! (Luke 6:45) “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.” What comes out of a man is the kind that is in his heart. Perhaps a man can occasionally speak of something good in hypocrisy (like caring for the poor, promoting social equity, etc) but what is abundant in his heart he will not just occasionally speak but, will customarily say and do. I would prefer hearing politicians speak of their faith, religion, and aspirations because it will be the window for me to peep as to what kind of a person he is or will be. When Mitt Romney, the only Mormon in the contest, said “no man would tear him from his church” this declaration proves that this person is a religious fanatic, not open-minded, if not narrow-minded and a believer of fallacies! A little study of the origin and history of the Mormon Church, and a closer look at the Holy Bible would not need the weakest of a man to tear you apart from your church!
History will prove that this is a Mormon fallacy! There was never, in the generation of Joseph Smith until now, in the western boundaries of the state of Missouri, a temple built which became the New Jerusalem. Mormons alleged that they believe in the Bible, but their doctrines and covenants are obviously against the Bible.
If someone aspiring for the presidency of the United States of America will say that he or she is an atheist, then presto, you can have a president that is free to do all evil for the American people! (Psalms 53:1) “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good…” Do you want to have a foolish and corrupt president? The choice is yours!
God Bless!
