PARA-MILITARY COURTESY AND DISCIPLINE I. Characteristics of disciplined guards 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Show strong self-control, even when challenged. Remain calm under stress. Follow procedures with little or no supervision; Well-organized and carry out duties with care. Do not involve in any gossip in workplace, no matter how hard people try to get the person involve or how the person feel about the topic. 6. II. Para-military courtesy and discipline provisions that are applicable to security/lady guards A. Standard code of ethics 1. 2. 3. 4.

To serve the interest and mission of the agency. Honest in thoughts and deeds, both in his/her personal and official actuation. Should not reveal any confidential information confided to him/her. Should act at all times with decorum and shall not permit personal feelings, prejudices and undue friendship of influence his/her actuation while in the performance of his/her official functions. 5. Should not compromise with criminals and other lawless elements to the prejudice of the customers or clients and shall assist the government in its relentless drive against lawlessness and other forms of criminality. 6. Should carry/put his or her assigned duties as required by law to the best of his/her ability and shall safeguard the life and property of the establishment he/she is assigned. 7. Should wear his or her uniform, badge, patches and insignia properly as a symbol of public trust and confidence, as honest and trustworthy security guard. 8. Should keep his or her allegiance first to the government, then to the agency where he or she is employed and to the establishment he or she is assigned to serve with loyalty and utmost dedication. 9. Shall diligently and progressively familiarize himself or herself with the rules and regulations laid down by the agency and those of the customers or clients. 10. Shall at all times be courteous, respectful and salute his or her superior officers, government officials and officials of the establishment where he or she is assigned or the company he or she is supposed to serve. 11. Shall report on duty always in proper uniform and neat in his or her appearance. 12. Shall learn at heart and strictly observe the laws and regulations governing the use of firearms.

B. Standard code of conduct 1. Shall carry with him/her at all times during his/her tour of duty his/her license, ID and DDO with an authority to carry firearm.

2. Shall not use his/her license and other privileges if any, to the prejudice of the public, customer or client, and his/her agency. 3. Shall not engage in any unnecessary conversation with anybody except in the discharge of his/her duties or sit down unless required by the nature of his/her work and shall at all times keep himself/herself alert during duty. 4. Shall refrain from reading newspapers, magazines, books, etc., while actually performing his/her duty. 5. Shall not drink any intoxicating liquor immediately before and during his or her tour of duty. 6. Shall know the location of the fire alarm box near his or her post and sound the fire alarm in case of fire or disorder. 7. Shall know how to operate fire extinguisher at his or her post. 8. Shall know the location of the telephone and/or the telephone numbers of the police precincts as well as the telephone numbers of the fire stations in the locality. 9. Shall immediately notify the police in case of any sign of disorder, strike, riot, or any serious violations of the law. 10. Shall not participate or integrate in any disorder, strike, riot or any serious violation of the law. 11. Shall assist the police in the preservation and maintenance of peace and order and in the protection of life and property having in mind that the nature of his or her responsibilities is similar to that of the latter. 12. Shall familiarize himself or herself by heart with the Private Security Agency Law (RA 5487, as amended) and its implementing rules and regulations. 13. When issued a service firearm, he or she should not lend his or her firearm. 14. Shall be in proper uniform and shall always carry with him or her basic requirements and equipment such as notebook, ball pen, night stick (baton), and/or radio. 15. Shall endeavor at all times to merit and be worthy of the trust and confidence of teh agency he or she represents and the client he or she serves.
