April Calendar

This week I visited my son’s school while they had a visiting Author ( Michael Anthony Steel). I walked away with a great reminder, to “just do it”.

Now if you are like me this could be something as simple as reorganizing the storage in my basement. Or perhaps getting out for a walk a couple of days a week.

Mr. Steel was talking to the students about writing stories but he also made a point to tell them to apply this to everything and anything. If they were thinking about sports, school work, or perhaps trying something new that might make them a little nervous they should “just do it”.

Lets not forget how many times we have talked about getting more done in our scrapbooks.

I would like to challenge each of you to think about something that you have been thinking about accomplishing and “Just Do It”.

To help you “just do it” you can always attend the FREE open crop on the last Friday of each month. This will help you to “just do it” without adding to your expenses. If you need a little more help to “just do it” the $10 two page layout wont break the bank either.

One other interesting thing Michael Anthony Steel told the students was that when he writes he takes someone else’s ideas and makes it his own. In other words he uses their creativity to inspire his creativity. I thought how that lesson could also be applied to scrapbooking. I can not tell you how many times I have used an idea I have seen from magazines or the CTMH idea books and How-to books to jump start my creativity. Together I think we can all inspire each other to “JUST DO IT”

Teachers & School Staff Promotion During the month of April I would like to thank all of the employees that take part in educating our children.

Technique of the Month—Creating Tabs

Quick & Easy Tab

An easy way to label your photos on a scrapbook page is to use a tab. There are some great punches out there that will do this for you. However if you are like me you want to do it with the tools you already have. The photo on the left shows you the simplest way to create a tab. 1.

Decide how wide you need the tab. Be sure to have enough room to write what you want.

2.

Cut a rectangle - the length represents the width of the writing space

3.

Using a corner rounder, round the edges as shown.

4.

Write your message and adhere it under the item you are labeling on your scrapbook page.

If you would like to create a semi-circle tab it will take a little more work but still very doable. 1. Punch a circle big enough to hold your title

3. Use a pencil to lightly trace around the inside of the half circle and approximately 1/2 inch out on the sides at the bottom of the semi-circle.

4. Cut out the tab you have traced leaving a half inch on the bottom to adhere it to your project.

2. The negative from the punch becomes your template. Fold it in half as shown here Half of a flower was added to this tab to add another decorative element rather than using a label or title.

“Now it is your turn. I would love to see how you used tabs in your scrapbook pages or on your hand made cards”
