1. Pengertian

Pameran seni rupa merupakan suatu usaha menyajikan karya seni rupa untuk dikomunikasikan kepada penikmat seni khususnya dan masyarakat luas pada umumnya sehingga mendapatkan apresiasi. Salah satu manfaat pameran adalah seorang seniman bisa memperkenalkan karya-karyanya kepada masyarakat baik lingkungan pendidikan atau institusi sekolah ataupun masyarakat umum untuk dilihat, dinilai, dikagumi, atau dikritik.

2. Macam-macam Pameran

Menurut Jumlah Peserta 1.

Pameran tunggal, pameran seni rupa yang hanya diselenggarakan secara individual.

Pameran kelompok, pameran seni rupa yang diselenggarakan oleh baberapa saniman/pengrajin. Materi yang dipamerkan pada pameran bersama marupakan karya-karya lebih dari satu seniman. Biaya Pameran ditanggung oleh seniman yang bersangkutan. Penyalanggaraan pameran dapat dilangsungkan antara 1 minggu sampai 3 minggu.

Menurut sifatnya 1.

Pameran Insidental, pameran seni rupa yang diselenggarakan secara berkala yang didasarkan atas kebutuhan yang ada, misalnya: pameran kaligrafi guna menyongsong perayaan Isro' Mi'raj.

2.

Pameran rutin, pameran seni rupa yang diselenggarakan pada periode tertentu secara tetap dan berkelanjutan, misalnya: pentas seni yang dilakukan setiap akhir semester.

3.

Pameran permanen, pameran seni rupa yang diselenggarakan secara terbuka, tetap dan terus menerus.

Menurut Ragam Jenis Karya yang Digelar

1.

Pameran heterogen, yaitu pameran seni rupa yang memamerkan berbagai jenis karya seni rupa.

2.

Pameran homogen, yaitu pameran seni rupa yang memamerkan satu jenis karya seni rupa yang seragam.

Menurut Tempat Berlangsungnya

1.

Pamaran terbuka, pameran seni rupa yang berlangsung di luar ruangan secara tarbuka.

2.

Pameran tertutup, pameran seni rupa yang berlangsung di dalam ruangan suatu gedung.

3.

Pameran bergerak, pameran seni rupa yang diselenggarakan menggunakan alat yang bergerak, seperti kendaraan/ mobil.

Menurut Jenis Dimensi Karya Seni Rupa 1.

Pameran karya seni rupa dua dimensi, pameran yang hanya menyajikan karya seni rupa pada bidang datar seperti gambar, lukisan, seni grafis. Karya ini hanya dapat dinikmati dari satu arah.

2.

Pameran karya seni rupa tiga dimensi, pameran yang hanya menyajikan karya seni yang memiliki volume/kesan ruang yang sebenarnya, yaitu memiliki ukuran Panjang x lebar x tinggi. Karya seni ini dapat diamati dari berbagai arah.
