With regard to the Hardware Operation System/Middleware, which shall be associated with any hardware supplied within the DTTB system, the tenderer is required to submit based on both DVB MHP standards as well as any other equivalent stable and proven standards. The middleware for the STB shall be an MHP compliant middleware to provide the interface between the in stream application and the box operating system. MHP offers a common Application Programming Interface (API) based on a public standard, open to anyone to develop, build upon and apply.

To supply the interactive applications, the tenderer shall supply a second tier STB called a Premium STB which contains open interfaces compatible with Conditional Access (CA) modules and MHP middleware. Access via a telecom network requires the inclusion of a dialup modem modules in the STB. The STB will have a hard disk and RAM enable it to perform PVR and other interactivity application.
