A New Generation of Leaders, Bestowed Written by : Danish Adha
On the evening of the 18th of January, the long-awaited Form One’s Orientation Week Closing Ceremony was finally held! This annual event’s sole purpose it was held was to commemorate the First Former’s students in officially becoming a part of the big family here at The Malay College Of Kuala Kangsar. This grand event was surely awaited by the collegians as it brings back memories of them when they were in Form One, where they once performed as well on the same stage at the Auditorium Tun Abdul Razak. At exactly 8.00 p.m., collegians, donned in their most smartest outfit, are already gushing in the prestigious Auditorium Tun Abdul Razak, along with parents of the Form One students and teachers, picking out the best seats the auditorium has to offer. After all of them had settled down in their respective seats, the guests of honour arrived at 8.30 p.m. All the attendants rose from their seats to show respect to the guests of honour and then they sang the national anthem and the College anthem with full pride in their hearts. After the anthems were sang and the attendants had taken their seats, the ceremony was blessed by the dua recitation and followed by a speech from the Form One’s representative, both given by the Form One’s students themselves. Then, the lights were off and it is showtime! The performances kicks off with a pantomime, showcased by the Form Ones and the Form Fives students, that tells about a boy who was homesick and tried to run away. Tears ran down the audiences’ cheeks as the performance was both joyous and enjoyable indeed! After the entertaining pantomime, a trope of Form One dancers quickly ran onto the stage and got into their position. Then, the head dancer walked in, and the next thing that happened was a surely phenomenal dance was performed by them as the dance tells about a puppeteer and his puppets. The synchronisation of the dancers surely made all the audience gaped in awe as they were perfectly in step together. When the dancers had marched out of the stage, it was the singers’ time to shine. Two Form One students, along with the band members of the Form One Band, performed exquisitely well. Then, Mr Shahriman even got a turn on the stage as he performed the song Kisah Antara Kita, a hit by One Avenue Band. Surely everyone in the auditorium got chills as he hits every notes of the song in perfect intonation and style. Finally, the Form One Band takes control of the stage as they performed their song stupendously well, without a flaw. With the hit of the last note of their performance, it marks the
end of the performances and, all the Form One students marched up the stage and recited their vows. They are now officially, warriors, brothers in arms and part of the family. Then, the night wraps up. All in all, it was truly superb to see the Form One students who entered the College in less than a week and they were already adapting well. They can conquer their inner fear and they managed to perform in front of the whole school. It is hoped that all of them will stay tied to their vows and uphold the dignity of the College, making the College Flag soar high in the skies.
