Organization of Writing EQ: Why is writing organized differently?

Look at these objects for 5 sec.

Write down as many as you can remember.

Chronological Order TIME is the key. It starts with the earliest, or first, thing that

happens. It ends with the last thing that happens. Put these events into chronological order: eating breakfast first period homeroom getting out of bed getting picked up or walking home TV

Look at the events you put into chronological order. Causal Order Are any of those causally related? Did any one event cause another? Try putting these into a flow chain of causal order. LEAVE OUT THE ONE THAT IS NOT CAUSAL. •Late for class •A on my test •Grounded •Missed the football game •Detention

Baptismal certificate Deed to home Title to car Dog Husband/wife ORDER OF IMPORTANCE Start in essays with least important reason and work to most important reason. Or start with describing the least important feature of a room or detail of a story and work to most important. WHY?

1-Organize them chronologically. 2-Choose the ones that are causal & organize them causally. 3-Organize them in order of importance. 4-Organize them spatially as they lay on the table.

PASS THE FOLDER! PASS THE FOLDER! Every 5 min. you will move to a new table with a new folder with your group. AS A GROUP and for a participation grade, do the assignment in the folder TOGETHER & place it in the folder WITHOUT LOOKING at the other groups’ work. BE ORIGINAL; have the courage to be yourself, not a carbon copy of someone else!
