Verb: Word that expresses time while showing an action, condition, or a fact that something exists.

TYPES OF VERBS •Transitive •Intransitive •Linking •Helping

•Transitive Verb- an action verb with a direct object; someone or something in a sentence Ex.: Tyler kicked the ball

•Intransitive Verb – an action verb that does not show action towards someone or something in a sentence Ex.: Kayla strikes before running across the field

•Linking Verbs– connects the subject of the verb to another idea Ex. Alex is playing basketball. Tansu was shooting hoops.

•Helping Verbs– connects the subject of the verb to another idea

SUMMARY Transitive example- Tyler kicked the ball Who kicked? Tyler. What did he kick? The ball. Intransitive example - Kayla strikes before running across the field Who strikes? Kayla. What does she strike? WE DON’T KNOW!

Linking examples - Alex is playing basketball. Tansu was shooting hoops. Isisn’t something that Alex can do. It just connects to the subject, Alex, to another idea/some information; he is playing basketball. Was isn’t something Tansu can do. It
