[email protected] MEDIA ADVISORY: 06-063 MEDIA INVITED TO NASA GLENN FOR ASTRONAUT EVENT News media are invited to attend a post-flight mission briefing for employees with five members of NASA's most recent space shuttle crew at NASA's Glenn Research Center, Cleveland, on Thursday, November 2, at 9 a.m. After completing its mission, designated STS-115, Space Shuttle Atlantis returned home to Earth on September 21 after a 12-day journey of more than 4.9 million miles in space. Crew members visiting Glenn are Commander Brent Jett, Pilot Chris Ferguson and mission specialists Dan Burbank, Joe Tanner and Heide Stefanyshyn-Piper. As part of the briefing, a video will feature highlights of the mission, including the inspection of Atlantis' heat shield and the unprecedented robotics work using the shuttle's arm in a delicate maneuver to hand off the school bus-sized truss to the station's arm. With the successful installation of the massive P3/P4 truss that will provide one quarter of the International Space Station's power, the STS-115 crew succeeded in restarting assembly of the station. After the briefing in Glenn's Developmental Engineering Building, crew members will be available for news media interviews from 10-10:30 a.m. Media representatives interested in covering the event should contact Sally Harrington at 216-433-2037 by 4 p.m. Wednesday, November 1.
