VOICE OF DEMOCRACY SCHOLARSHIP Any student wishing to submit an entry for the Voice of Democracy Scholarship should see Mr. Dorr this week for more information and the necessary paperwork. Students compete by writing and recording a broadcast script on an annual patriotic theme. This year's theme is Service and Sacrifice by America's Veterans Benefit Today's Youth by... The deadline for entries is Wednesday, October 29, 2008. Your history teacher can also provide you with additional information.

SENIOR COLLEGE VISITS Seniors who go on college tours/visits need to bring a note to the main office from the college they visited. The note must state the students name, date and the college that was visited. Students should also notify their teachers in advance that they will be absent from school on the day of the visit.

SCHOOL PICTURES School Pictures have been rescheduled for October 23.

DRUG AND ALCOHOL TASK FORCE The 1st meeting of the year for the student Drug & Alcohol Task Force (DATF) will take place on Tuesday October, 14th at 2:30. Please plan to come if you were on the committee last year or if you would like to come see what it is all about. We would love to have new members. Contact Mrs. Parent for more information.

SAT PREP MSAD #22 Adult Education is offering a SAT Preparation Course Saturday, October 25th. Call 862-6422 for more information.

NHS MEETING There will be a NHS meeting for all members Friday, October 10th at 7:30 am in Room 4.

HAMPDEN ACADEMY FOOTBALL SWEATSHIRTS are available for a limited time (10/10/2008). Order forms are available outside the main office.

COFFEEHOUSE TEA CLUB: What is Coffeehouse Tea Club? During the Fall semester we are a social club that gathers to drink tea and discuss issues of local and international importance. During the Spring semester we focus intensely on one or two of these issues and conduct schoolwide activities to increase awareness and raise funds to change our world in positive ways. In the past two years we have addressed the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Darfur Region of Sudan and the issue of global food shortages. We have also raised money to support the Bangor Humane Society. Our first meeting of the year will be on Tuesday, October 14th right after school in Mr. ManhartÕs Room #44. New members are always welcome.

SENIOR GROUP PHOTO FOR YEARBOOK The yearbook senior photo will be taken on Tuesday, October 14th. Seniors are to report to 1st period for attendance, and then will be dismissed by the main office at 8:05 to report directly to the New Gym.

SENIORS - YEARBOOK DEADLINES All senior pictures, baby pictures, senior information sheets, class favorites and class superlative papers need to be turned

in ASAP to either the main office or Mr. Moore in Room 41. Deadline is October 15th.

JCL Tuesday the 14th at 2:10 there will be a JCL meeting for all students interested in Certamen in Room 8. Wednesday the 15th at 2:10 there will be a JCL meeting for all students interested in making posters in Room 8. * 2863 reads
