Conference Time!

Our first conferences of Second Grade are on Monday, October 12th from 123 PM. We have a short time period to hold conferences due to the other part of our day being reserved for professional development in Engineering. Please send me an e-mail or a note in your child’s planner for your top 3 choices in times for your conference. If none of the times work for you, please write me a note so I can try to make different arrangements with you. The times you have to choose from are: 12:00-12:20 1:00-1:20 2:00-2:20 3:00-3:20 4:00-4:20 5:00-5:20

SCIENCE INQUIRY NIGHT

Thursday, October 8th from 5:30-7:30 is Leaphart’s Science Inquiry Night. Come have dinner in the cafeteria and then entertain the whole family with many wonderful Science Investigations and activities.

What We’re Learning About… Word Study-word families and word patterns based on our individual strengths. Math-finished our first test on Unit 1 and are into the next unit focusing on addition-easy addition facts (+0. +1), number stories and double facts Writing Workshop-what writers do, things we make with writing, spelling unknown words, using our spelling dictionary Reading Workshop-reading is fun, strategies to use to make sense of text and tricky words Social Sciences-engineers and how they make life easier, air, parachutes, ways to re-design parachutes, writing in our science notebooks to record observations, character education
