Th e Born Alive Infants Protection Act required that babies be given human rights if they are alive and out of the mother. Barack Obama voted against it multiple times. You may have already heard about this. The Obama campaign has already come out with an explanation at fghtthesmears.com.1 But here’s what they don’t tell you… • Obama said the bill would have infringed on Roe vs. Wade.1 Yet the bill only concerned babies completely outside of the mother.2 • Obama said he would have voted for a similar bill that was in Congress.1 That bill had a clause stating that it was not to be misconstrued as extending rights of the unborn. Yet when the Illinois bill was amended to make it identical to the federal bill, he still voted against it.2 • Obama denied that the bill he voted against was the same as the federal bill. When confronted on this, he said, “I hate to say that people are lying, but here’s a situation where folks are lying.”3 Undisputed records show he voted for the amendment, but once it was added to the bill, he voted against the amended bill.3 • And Obama’s campaign says all of this is moot because there was already an Illinois law that protected the born.1 But is a law that allowed viable babies to die in a “soiled utility room” 4 effective?
It is unacceptable to campaign for women’s rights while sacrifcing the rights of unwanted newborns in the process. Let Obama know that all people deserve a little bit of hope. 1. 2. 3. 4.
