Warm up: Students will be given menu from Burger king in Spanish. They will be asked to choose which of the three meals provided they liked best. They will need to tell me which of the meals they like best and why while using “I like” and adjectives showing extremes (we worked on this grammar earlier this week and worked with Burger King menus yesterday). Activity 1: Finish Notes from 4.3.
Time 30 min
Rationale: Easy grammar that the students need to know and should already have a good handle on based on past topics. Teacher will be giving notes on an overhead and students will be filling in blanks on a guided notes worksheet. We will also assign foods for
food show and tell (students are bringing in food for a party and they will need to describe it for the class). Activity 2: Time: Cultural readings 35-40 Rationale: Students need to work on reading and they will be tested over the culture of Oaxaca on their next test. It seems fitting to have them read about the culture. Students will be divided into 6 groups of 5. There are three separate readings about the culture of Oaxaca. In their groups students will be asked to read one of the sections. Each group will be responsible for recording relevant information that they will then present to the class. Within each group students will take turns reading sentences and translating them to English. Someone will in charge of writing down the important information. As there are two groups per section, these two groups will meet and create an overhead which a few representatives will be responsible for presenting to the class. I have a PowerPoint with lots of pictures and information to add to what they are presenting. I plan to let each group talk and then add pictures that support their findings. All students will be responsible for taking notes as information could be Used on an open notebook quiz in the future.
Activity 3:
Time: Remainder of Passback second drafts of diario writing assignments class Rationale: Students final drafts will be due tomorrow and generally they have questions as to why I made corrections that I did. Students will have free work time to either ask questions about their diario assignments or get started on the project that was assigned in class today.
