New York Road Runners Foundation Young Professionals Committee Application for Membership 2009-10 Empowering youth development and combating childhood obesity through running-based programs in low-income schools and community centers The mission of NYRRF's YPC is to fundraise on behalf of the Foundation's youth programs which currently provide life-changing services to 75,000 at-risk youth each week in New York City, 45+ states and Cape Town, South Africa. We are actively recruiting new members and are looking for energetic, committed individuals who are excited to support the Foundation's work through creative fundraising efforts. Expectations of Members: • •

Attend 4-6 planning meetings/year. These meetings are held on weekday-evenings in a Midtown office and typically run from 7-8pm. Make a significant contribution to the planning of one YPC event per year via venue selection, assistance with food/beverage offerings, soliciting silent auction items, producing invitations and other print materials, publicity, etc. Attend 75% of the YPC's fundraisers (typically held in November, February, May, and August). Bring multiple friends/colleagues to each of the YPC's fundraisers, with a goal of bringing at least five individuals. Benefits of Membership:

Discounted training packages with elite athlete and professional coach/trainer John Henwood (www.johnhenwood.com) One free NYRR race entry (excluding ING New York City Marathon and Half Marathon Presented by Nike) for the individual who brings the most paying guests to each YPC event Opportunity to gain valuable experience in event planning/logistics, the non-profit sector, and New York City's wide philanthropic community. Opportunity to raise funds on behalf of sorely-needed, powerful youth programs and to network with your peers who share your commitment to this cause.
