Notes from Green Team of Salisbury June 10, 2009 Attendees: Len Kobylus, Mike Hallett, Eric Soderberg, Clarence Beaver, Worth Murdoch, Jeannie Moore Discussions continued in respect to the “For Profit” opportunity for the Green Team. Starting with Francis’s sketched business plan the GT group reviewed Francis’s submitted Introduction in tandem with Len Kobylus’s submitted Target Market proposal. It was generally agreed that Len’s GT market focus will be developing power generation between ____kw to ____kw. A layer of energy usage somewhere below the top range of the high end energy user. The amount of KW range was undetermined since the committee presently has no specific basis of revenues and costs associated with a GT project. After an onsite FB viewing, Clarence stated that in regards to the FB project an overall Master Plan from FB should be available to determine, aside from solar rooftop building, other buildable locations on the FB property for a solar panel array and/or geothermal projects. Other immediate recommendations for the FB project are; theneed to hire a licensed engineer to design and provide a set of building plans for the solar project. The need also exists for a licensed contractor to take those approved plans and coordinate the installation of the proposed plan. Worth noted Duke Energy’s website and published deadlines (possibly as early as June 11th) for consideration by Duke Energy namely; a proposed solar project (FB rooftop footprint may have been sent by John Young, FB facility manager), and certified approved suppliers. The question was raised, has a Duke Energy solar proposal for FB been made and is the proposal available? Following Len’s example of business expansion, and the state of available funding to structure an approved project, the group agreed that the first place to put its energy into furthering the Green Team’s was start in the area of Grants and Grant Writing. Jeannie suggested the use of Daphne Lewis (RCCC) as a resource in the formulation of GT Grant Writing. A small group, lead by Worth and myself, is being planned to visit the Charlotte facility of Seneca, manufacturer of solar panels. A date and time for others to join will be forthcoming.
