Kane Ezekiel Q. Saludes 11- Wisdom Reaction Paper “Noah” is a biblically based movie directed by Darren Aronofsky. It tackles the life of Noah a pious man, chosen by God to do a great task of building an Ark large enough to hold his wife, adopted daughter, sons and their wives, plus a breeding pairs of every animal! We all want to know the answer from the question “Was it a good movie?” but before that let me tell you some things that I encountered by watching this film. Darren Arnofsky was known for his dark and depressing films, an example of this is his movie Black Swan. Although he says that it was based on the bible most of its contents are not within this movie. I’ve done some research and the director said that this is ‘the least biblical bible film ever’. That was the problem in this movie he should just have made a completely different movie because there are countless of stories of great flood because every culture contains a flood story, for the film has almost no relation for the Biblical Noah. As I have said this film contains many inaccuracies from the original story. I can cite a few these from the movie. I’ll write down some of the lines from the movie. Lines like, In the beginning, there was nothing. Adam and Eve had three sons. Noah’s father Lamech died when Noah was a young boy. Japheth is Noah’s youngest son Japheth releases the raven from the ark. Man is to be judged because of what humans have done to the earth. Noah builds the ark solely to save “the innocents” (meaning the animals), and after it serves its purpose, man is to die off. But on the contrary this is not the real facts that what is in the Bible. Here are the accurate facts that are not in the movie. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1). Adam and Eve had Cain, Abel, Seth, and other sons and daughters. (Genesis 5:4). Lamech lives until Noah is about 595 years old, dying approximately five years before the Flood. Ham is Noah’s youngest son (Genesis 9:24). Noah releases the raven (Genesis 9:7). Man is to be judged for sinning against the holy and righteous God. Noah built the Ark for the saving of his household (Hebrews 11:7) and the animals (Genesis 6:19–20). I know that a lot of Christians will be disappointed of the movie because of the things that has been added making it look like a fantasy straight out of the Lord of the rings franchise because of the giant rock monsters or fallen angels called “The Watchers”. It is not even stated in the bible that Noah has been helped by the watchers. It’s supposed to be story of faith, family and love instead I felt like I watched a fantasy film full with brutality, gruesomeness and genocide. Over-all if this was just a fantasy –drama film that is not based on the Bible that is the holy book of almost the religion of the majority of the people in the world it could have made a satisfying impression for me but it is not and most Millennials the children of this generation specially the young ones will believe that this is the real story of Noah’s Ark because of the technology and advancement of our time. That is why I recommend not to let the children watch

this without parental guidance. So after all that I’ll answer the question that I asked a while ago. “Was it a good movie ?” Frankly it was not.
