Key findings for Vietnam • Consumer confidence is high amongst Vietnamese consumers • Vietnamese consumers are ranked 9th most optimistic across the world, down from 7th in the first half of 2008. • Vietnam is above the global average for consumer confidence, hitting 97.1 compared to the average index of 84.2. • Vietnam ranks 5th amongst Asia-Pacific Nations. • Since 1st half 2007, consumer confidence has been dropping - it’s down 8% in 2nd half 2008 from 1st half • Vietnamese consumers prefer to put their spare cash into savings (49%), which is on par with the Asia-Pacific region average • They also love to keep up with new technology, with 42% of respondents choosing to allocate spare cash purchase hi-tech products – ahead of all other AP countries including China; and ranked third in the world • The biggest concern for Vietnamese over the next six months is the economy (23%), fuel prices (22%), work/life balance (20%) and job security (20%). • 45% of Vietnamese think Vietnam will be out of recession in the next 12 months
