History 





  

Late 2005 – Early 2006  YAMS  Four people who had experiences working with NGOs and UN in Myanmar conceptualize this idea of resource website. YAMS is the first initials of those four persons. Early 2006 – September 2006  NGOs in the Golden Land website was hosted on a free server. http://www.freewebs.com/ngoingoldenland/index.htm November 2006  NGOs in the Golden Land website was moved to googlepages. http://ngoingoldenland.googlepages.com/  Volunteer recruitments started. December 2006  Domain name www.NGOinMyanmar.org was selected and purchased. January 2007  Launching of www.NGOinMyanmar.org on the 4th of January 2007. February 2007  All the website contents have been integrated on a new professional web server.

Activities for Objective 1  

To promote the participation of non-profit organizations in social development of Myanmar. Activities:  Providing up-to-date comprehensive social organizational directory service  Providing web space for social organizations operating within Myanmar  Providing email service for those organizations (??)  Providing information on  Geographical & program coverage of organizations  Funding opportunities mainly for organizations in Myanmar  Useful resources for NGO management and development

Activities for Objective 2 



To accelerate career and professional development of young people who are currently working or interested to work in social organizations. Activities:  Providing information on:  Job vacancies (local, regional, international)  Scholarships  Degree/non-degree programs  Self-learning courses  Internships, and  Volunteers opportunities  Linking up youth and organizations that are willing to take interns  Provide professional advice through MDCF network

Activities for Objective 3  

To strengthen a network of development professionals who are interested in Myanmar. Activities  Hosting Myanmar Development Community Forum (MDCF) for sharing information, and ideas on the issues related to social development of Myanmar.  Updating an inventory of development professionals who are interested in Myanmar
