The 10th Annual Halloween in the Park was a phenomenal success again this year. An estimated 8500 people attended the event Saturday , October 25th at Sharp Springs Natural Area. The annual festival is one of the premier events that the department puts on every year. Thank you to the Smyrna Natural Gas Department for co-sponsoring the event. None of this would have been possible without their contribution. Congratulations to Austin Bushido Karate School, the recipient of this years best booth contest. We look forward to putting this event on again next year and encourage all of Smyrna and the surrounding communities to come out and take advantage of this free program. The Smyrna Fast Pitch League would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped out during Fall Brawl 2 at Volunteer Park on October 17 and 18th. The tournament was well represented with more than twenty teams from Tennessee and Kentucky. “We had great weather, great food, and GREAT softball!!!! Thanks for all of your donations of baked goods.” (Marci Jameson, President, Smyrna Fast Pitch League)

FEATURE PARK:

Our Inaugural Cruise-In was a huge success. Guests listened to 1950’s and 60’s music provided by CJ Jatala from CJ’s Party Place, ate barbecue from Smitty’s BBQ, and enjoyed ice cream from Awesome Ice Cream. The crowd was estimated to be just about 500 strong and we had 75 cars show up to participate. A great showing for our first event of this nature. We will definitely do this again in the spring, so listen for the rumbling of engines.

SMYRNA GREENWAY SYSTEM NEXT MONTH SMYRNA MARTIAL ARTS WILDERNESS WALK PHOTOGRAPHS WINTER PROGRAMS

The seven-mile greenway system connects several of Smyrna’s parks and public use areas by stroller-friendly, asphalt trails. The trail is constructed with a width of twelve feet, in most places, and eight feet in others. Trails that are eight feet or wider are considered safe for walkers and bikers. Pet owners may enjoy the trail system as well, but are encouraged to keep pets on a leash. Any group or individual that wants to use the greenway for a project or special event should contact the Parks and Recreation office for approval.
