Whatʼs Happening in the Classsroom? Right now we are studying the following:

Science• Ecosystems/ Habitats • Symbiotic Relationships Social Studies• Reviewing US History from 1400-1700 and creating our interactive timeline Reading and Language Arts• How to respond to our reading by using our online reading logs and discussion pages • Using punctuation as a clue to help us read smoothly and as the author intends • Reading smoothly by seeing phrases in the sentences rather than individual words • Read Aloud- Fever 1793 • Reviewing of editing skills Math• Factors and Multiples and the Relationship between Numbers

Visit Our New Student Websites For the past two weeks, each student has created their own website and worked hard to make it a place where we can post projects and begin the building of an online portfolio. Next week, I will be sending home information about how you (or your family members) will be able to participate in online reading discussions and other collaborative experiences with your child. I would appreciate your help with these conversations, as it will be very important for your childʼs reading growth in the area of comprehension. To get to your childʼs website, you will need a username and password. I will be sending those usernames and

passwords to you individually in email starting next week. Please be looking for that and let me know if you have not received it by Wednesday. You may share this username and password with any family or friends you feel would enjoy seeing your childʼs work. Please be aware that I have made these password protected so that you and your child will be protected. I want to assure you that I will still hold to the policy that no names or photos will be posted together on our main website, as it is not password protected. Parent Night and Conferences Thank you to all the parents who were able to attend parent night. I enjoyed seeing all of you again and meeting some of you for the first time.
