FROM THE PRESIDENT… Tough Times Don't Last. Tough People Do. The same can be said for local business -- large and small. There are a lot of tough businesses in our Chamber who will be here long after these tough times are behind us. They will come out of this downturn more focused and better positioned than before. Small businesses have the advantage of flexibility: It’s easier to make changes quickly and be creative. There is no denying that most of us are facing challenges we’ve not seen in sometime, but if your business is like ours, its given you a little extra time to figure out what you are doing WELL and what you could be doing BETTER. A chance to rein in spending, increase productivity and improve customer service are just a few examples. But keep in mind: This is not the time to pull back, either; it’s the time to become more involved, and the Belton Chamber of Commerce provides many networking opportities and serves as an advocate for your business. Large businesses: Your presence in our community is invaluable. It’s not a time to “think small” but rather a time to look at the big picture of the community. The employment opportunities and resources that you bring strengthen our community. Your far-reaching connections bring new people to our area, which benefits all business. These times offer a great opportunity for you to become more involved in the communities that you do business in. In fact, now is a great time for businesses of ANY size to become more involved in the community. We all like to do business with someone we know. Whether your business is large or small, being active in your local chamber of commerce is a great way to put a face to your business’ name. The Belton Chamber is the largest chamber in Cass County. The BCOC is made up of large and small business, city and county government, and schools, both public and private. Many of our members are private citizens not directly connected to any business. Strength in Numbers: With such diversity, comes strength in numbers. Becoming involved not only will benefit your business, but it will also benefit our community. Support the businesses of the BCOC. They can offer competitive pricing, better customer service and more goods and services than you can find elsewhere – even on-line. In turn not, pouring money back into the local economy only strengthens our
