This narrated video describes the private school project at Yellow Sheep River in Gansu province. Town & Talent Technologies, Ltd, based in Tianjin, and New School Student Ambassadors have partnered to bring project-based learning, technology, and international students together in impoverished regions of western China. In March, 2008, a group of 30 students and teachers from Hartford’s Pathways to Technology Magnet High School and CCSU journeyed to northwest China to meet students who they had collaborated with in online project-based activities as part of their school programs. This video documents the journey of a lifetime. Connect to a YouTube version at http://tinyurl.com/auqh5a

Project-based programs will be delivered to teams that combine Chinese and US students in an online, interactive environment making maximum use of social media, social production, collaboration and communication (text, audio, video) tools. New School Student Ambassadors has fully developed, tested, and piloted joint active learning, project-based curriculum and program delivery using open source course management, learning resources, electronic portfolios, and activity management systems. New School Student Ambassadors supports teacher/coaching professional development in both China and the US.

Our educational programs are designed to have a maximum positive effect on increasing cross-cultural educational opportunities, developing student global awareness and cultural sensitivity, improving creativity and innovation through cross-cultural teamwork solving real-world problems, and simulating 21st century working relationships in a global knowledge economy.

Our online project-based learning activities are designed to serve as preparation for exchange trips and face-to-face visits between participating Chinese and US students. Exchange trips will focus on the value of sustaining unique cultural, economic, and environmental ecosystems while providing a balance of opportunities for students in emerging regions of China to prepare for global education programs and meaningful work in a global knowledge economy. New School Student Ambassadors maintains relationships with government and commercial entities in northwest China that can provide coop work and internship opportunities for US college-level students.
