Hey Buddy, Can You Spare $1,000 Trillion? Since last year, I have been warning my Friends that "a New Number" is beginning to appear. We will start to see that New Number in the news media regularly, very soon. Sharon Kayser writes an incredible column about this New Number. It is somewhat long, but well worth the read. She basically covers all the bases in the looming crisis. Here are some of her gems from that column -"The threat of 'monetary terrorism' has only one remedy, called 'financial detoxification'. As you will read, nobody can stop this freight train." ------"The story of the upcoming world crash is hidden in plain sight." ------"It all boils down to faith. To be fair, the 'empire mentality' was born with history. Eventually people wake up to the harsh reality that the empire lied to them. The only successful government programs are wars and economic crises." ------"Credit happiness is short-lived. Just as with drugs, there is a withdrawal." ------"Anyone having a good sense of logic can see the hoax of a model based on debt consumption and extreme consumerism. Spend or die is economic cannibalism." ------"Once again, the numbers tell a very different story than that we are being told. Yes dear Readers, you're not hallucinating. There is currently at least a $1,000 trillion dollar black hole in the world economy." -----------------------------The full column is here. Take it from me, it is a must read -http://www.opednews.com/maxwrite/print_friendly.php?p=opedne_sharon_k_071117 _hey_buddy_2c_can_you_s.htm ------------------I was looking for news to gage just how big is the Derivatives Bubble, as it keeps growing at an incredible rate. After some time, I still could not find any source that comes up with a number. However, these two snippets give us an idea -From -http://www.fundmymutualfund.com/2008_02_03_archive.html "CME Group hosts trading of contracts that derive their value from an underlying commodity or event (Derivatives). Investors use these contracts to shelter their investment portfolios from swings in interest rates or gyrations in the stock market. " "Trading volume on the Chicago-based company's exchanges surged 23 percent in the fourth quarter to average 10.6 million contracts a day. Full-year trading volume jumped to nearly 2.8 billion contracts worth more than $1.2 quadrillion, the company said."

From -http://business.kovr.com/Master_Picks_Track_Record.html?ChannelID=3191&GUID= 4985840&Page=MediaViewer "DTCC Settles Record $1.8 Quadrillion in 2007 -The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) announced today it cleared and settled more than $1.86 quadrillion in securities transactions in 2007. DTCC also reported record revenue of $1.69 billion and returned $984 million to its customers in the form of discounts and rebates." -----------------------The CME Group is the world's largest Commodities Market. They deal not only in Commodities Futures, but also in Equity (Stock Indexes and ETF'S) and Interest Rate (Bonds) Futures, Options, and "exotic securities". They alone traded more than a Quadrillion dollars last year. Then there is the DTCC, which is the largest Clearing House in the world for Securities, mostly between its member banks and brokerage houses. So just these two private Exchanges alone, traded THREE QUADRILLION DOLLARS worth of transactions. Then there are many New York Exchanges, London's several major players, Germany, France, and Japan. Plus the minor players such as Italy, Russia, China, Africa, South America and all the rest, but it adds up. So I can only "guess-timate" that the yearly total for Derivatives trading in 2007 is somewhere between FIVE AND TEN QUADRILLION DOLLARS. To give you a perspective, Wikipedia lists the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of most countries-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(nominal) In 2007 the United States Economy has a GDP of 13 trillion dollars. The GDP of the ENTIRE WORLD was 54 trillion dollars. Therefore, the Derivatives Bubble is greater than the entire world's GDP by between ONE to TWO HUNDRED TIMES. Sorry, Folks, but I cannot continue. My mind just short-circuited! Blessings, George Daniel
